We had an amazing trip recently to Seattle to visit the The Brotherhood Initiative and The Sisterhood Initiative run by Joe Lott and Rashida Love, Ph.D at University of Washington. These programs empower undergraduate men and women of color to thrive on campus, to create a community of scholars, and to graduate prepared for a lifetime of leadership, service and success. These programs are examples of what #ClosingEquityGaps looks like in real life.

We joined our American Family Insurance colleagues Keena Thaxton, CDP®and Vanessa Valdez of our Talent Acquisition and Inclusive Excellence teams respectively to lead a resume workshop and to do mock job interviews with students. Members of our Western Sales team helped as well. Such a fantastic experience supporting these scholars.

We are proud to announce a partnership with the Community Development Alliance where we will provide mortgage down payments for 10 early childhood educators here in Milwaukee. Dozens of daycare providers have closed because workers can’t afford housing. Thanks to the CDA for showing how #ClosingEquityGaps can work. Brand-new homes!!!
