Nigerian Clean Tech Startup Arnergy Secures $3 Million Funding 

Arnergy, a pioneering Nigerian clean tech startup specializing in distributed renewable energy solutions, has successfully raised $3 million in new financing. This bridge round was spearheaded by All On, an off-grid energy impact investment company supported by Shell.

Founded in 2013 by Femi Adeyemo and Kunle Odebunmi, Arnergy is committed to delivering energy solutions tailored for productive use. Their focus lies in deploying innovative products, services, and systems that power business operations while enhancing economic outcomes.

This recent financing marks a significant milestone for Arnegy, coming five years after the company's successful $9 million Series A round in 2019. Notable investors in the Series A round included All On, alongside prominent firms like Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Electrifi Ventures, and Norfund.

Arnergy's ability to attract substantial investment underscores the growing recognition and demand for sustainable energy solutions in Nigeria and beyond. 

The funding infusion positions Arnergy to further expand its reach and impact in providing reliable and clean energy alternatives to homes and businesses across the region.

Backed by Bill Gates, Arnergy continues to scale and lead the drive to close the burgeoning demand-supply gap for solar systems in Nigeria after successfully raising $3 million in new financing from the bridge round financed by one of its Series A investors, All On, a Shell-backed off-grid energy impact investment company.

Looking ahead, Arnergy is gearing up to raise its Series B round, aimed at scaling its operations further, deepening its impact, and catalyzing the adoption of quality, affordable renewable energy products and solutions within and beyond Nigeria’s borders.

In 2015, we partnered with Bank of Industry Limited to build Solar Mini Grids; the projects were well-televised, and they became the benchmark for how Mini Grid should be built, but not long after, it dawned on us that we cannot be the best Mini-Grid developer, we were not good enough and that our strength was elsewhere, that we could add value and be more impactful by focusing on products, technology i.e building reliable and affordable solar + lithium battery that works for the industry.

Witnessing the commissioning of the CESEL-Concerto JV signals a journey that has come full circle for us.

The Advisory Board for the Solar Marketplace was inaugurated by the distinguished Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Mr. Geoffrey van Leeuwen. 

This momentous occasion took place at the offices of Arnergy in Lagos, Nigeria. After the event, the Minister had the incredible opportunity to tour the Arnergy facility, gaining firsthand insight into their innovative work in the renewable energy sector.

As we embark on this journey towards a sustainable future, we are grateful for the leadership and support of our Minister and our esteemed Advisory Board members. With their guidance, we are poised to drive collaboration, innovation, and progress in the solar energy sector.

The CESEL-Concerto Joint Venture (JV) led by Dr Patrick Tolani successfully commissioned their four Solar Hybrid Mini-Grid projects that delivered clean electricity to 1,200 households in Ife South, Osun State.

CESEL_OFFICIAL partnered with Aradel Holdings PLC to form the CESEL- Concerto. This project was partially funded by the World Bank. 

Arnergy collaborated with CESEL_OFFICIAL by providing top-quality solar equipment and accessories for the mini-grid project. This project was part of The World Bank-funded Nigeria Electrification Project, a federal government initiative overseen by the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria (REA).

Earlier this week, Arnergy hosted the official inauguration of the Netherlands Advisory Board for the Solar Marketplace in Nigeria. The event was graced by His Excellency Mr. Geoffrey van Leeuwen, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, alongside the Consul General of The Netherlands, Mr. Michel Deelen

During the event, the Minister highlighted the importance and the support of the Dutch government towards sustainable energy initiatives in Nigeria.

Arnergy's CEO, Femi Adeyemo, expressed his excitement for the renewable energy sector's approach to alleviating the cost of living for the masses, He stated that the establishment of the advisory board was timely and in line with the renewable energy sector's market terrain and how this joint effort will accelerate the growth of the renewable energy sector in Nigeria.  

After the event, the Minister toured the Arnergy facility, gaining direct contact and insight into the innovative work in the renewable energy sector.

Together, we are poised to drive collaboration, innovation, and progress in the solar energy sector, as we work towards achieving our futuristic goal.
