New functions increase efficiency when changing products in the DEK TQ solder paste printer: Paste Transfer and Quick Change Squeegee 📌 ASMPT speeds up product changes with an automation option that is as simple as it is clever: when changing a product in the solder paste printer, the solder paste remaining on the stencil to be changed must be transferred to the new one. Previously, this was done by hand using a spatula. In most cases, the entire remaining amount was not collected, and the paste was often not optimally applied to the new stencil. In addition, there was always a risk of the paste becoming contaminated or landing in the wrong place, which could lead to short circuits and malfunctions. The new paste transfer unit for the DEK TQ now also simplifies this process: the paste is transferred fully automatically each time the stencil is changed, provided the process parameters allow this. To do this, the paste is collected onto a transfer unit with the squeegee and from there applied to the new stencil again with the squeegee. The system then automatically removes any paste from the underside of the paste transfer tray using the underside cleaning function. The new paste transfer system can be retrofitted to all solder paste printers on the DEK TQ platform with little effort. It not only relieves the strain on employees, but also reduces paste loss by up to 50 percent. ASMPT has also optimized the squeegee change: The squeegee, which was previously fastened with two thumb screws, is now automatically unlocked when it is removed from the machine. It can then be changed with a single movement before the holder locks automatically when the machine lowers the squeegees. This reduces the changing time by up to 50 percent. This should not be underestimated, as it is not unusual for a machine to require up to 20 changes in 24 hours. Mechanical design also prevents the squeegee from being inserted incorrectly. Quick Change Squeegee can be retrofitted in just a few hours and is available for both the DEK TQ and the DEK NeoHorizon platform. With this quick-change bracket, the aforementioned over-tightened wing screw loses its fears. #SMT #ElectronicsManufacturing #Printing #Innovation #PCP

Automation in solder paste printing: more than eight hours of operator-free operation 💡 Solder paste printing is the first process in the SMT production line - and the most challenging. Those who optimize effectively here can leave the competition behind in the race for maximum efficiency and quality. In addition to precision and process stability, operator-free operation also counts. With its DEK TQ printers, the market and technology leader ASMPT demonstrates what is state of the art today in all these disciplines. ASMPT has consistently used open interfaces and numerous technical innovations to relieve scarce specialists of superfluous routine tasks. DEK TQ printers, in conjunction with ASMPT's Process Lens SPI system, can automatically perform continuous offset correction in a direct closed-loop optimization based on the measured values. The efficient high-speed under stencil cleaning (USC) with its own linear drives not only works up to 50 percent faster than conventional systems. A 22 meter long fabric roll and a 7 liter cleaning agent supply ensure that the cleaning system can run for an entire shift without an operator. Manual intervention is also reduced by the automatic and flexible support for setting pins with verification of the pin position and height. Two pin sizes (diameter 4 and 12 millimeters) are available ready in a 30-pin magazine in the DEK TQ; in the DEK TQ L, the magazine holds up to 60 pins due to the larger PCBs. Paste management has been fully automated. A dual access cover also enables solder paste cartridges to be exchanged during production. A laterally sliding cover section allows full access to the dispenser unit, while the cover over the rest of the printer remains closed and the machine can continue to work.
