Last week, we were happy to welcome Lt. Keener from the Akron Fire Department, as well as multiple local regional fire companies, to conduct their confined space rescue training. As in past years, they used our outside silo and a storage car. We were excited to welcome Kendra Alexander, Founder & CEO of Bickley Innovations, for a recent visit. Kendra discussed her business and took a tour of ASW's headquarters in Mogadore. The companies discussed ways in which they can work together. Bickley Innovations is an Ohio MSDC- and WBENC-certified company located in Cincinnati. With a background in mechanical engineering, Kendra leads Bickley Innovations in designing and creating innovative #packaging solutions, including a line of stretch wraps and corner boards. The company also offers thousands of other industrial products from boxes and mailers, to janitorial supplies, to safety products. From hearing #Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb speak, as well as the dynamic Adrienne Trimble , to learning from a distinguished group of panelists, to showcasing our capabilities and meeting suppliers and buyers during the trade show portion, to meeting #Browns legend Josh Cribbs, the event was packed with unforgettable moments. #supplierdiversity

As a company we believe in the importance of giving back to the community. For instance, this year, we are participating in Project GRAD Akron, helping to raise funds that will be donated to the Project GRAD Akron Scholarship Fund. Today we're spotlighting one of our CSR's, Naida Oliver, who shares our commitment to giving back. #volunteerism #communityinvolvement #givingback #AkronOH Helping others must be in Naida's DNA. She has a volunteer spirit and dedication to helping others, which she brings with her to work each day. As a Customer Service Representative at ASW, she enjoys assisting clients and making sure they have a positive experience. She says she has a great group of customers. Helping clients is only one part of her life, however. Naida enjoys volunteering her time within the Akron community. Last year, she devoted 600 hours to volunteer work. A lot of her volunteer time is spent working with youth. For 19 years, she has volunteered with the West Akron Track Club, an AAU track team. As part of her volunteer work, she introduces youth to networking, academic, and community outreach opportunities. She exposes students to positive coaching and mentorship, and teaches them conflict resolution. Naida was mentored herself as a teen, so she likes to give back. In her time with the track club, Naida has worked with 650 students. She is proud of the program, which has graduated student athletes who have attended Ivy League colleges, participated in Olympic trials, and made it to the NFL! Naida's involvement has included writing letters of recommendation, overseeing peer mediation, and facilitating student internships. Naida has also volunteered with the Firestone Park Rams Cheer program, served as Treasurer for the Buchtel Community Learning Center PTA, and volunteered with Project GRAD Akron. Naida's daughter Drew participated in the program, which Naida calls "one of the best programs to expand throughout the Akron Public Schools." Naida and her husband Damon have been together for 28 years. They have two daughters, Dana and Drew, and a granddaughter, Kamryn. Read more of Naida's story here: https://lnkd.in/gbZH_nds
