ATMOS Space Cargo designs and manufactures space capsules to return any cargo – from below 100 kg to multiple tons – from space.
Our technology will offer microgravity on demand, ranging from only 3 hours to 3 months in orbit.
ATMOS will enter the market with a first demonstration mission at the end of 2024.

Should Europe develop its own astronaut return capabilities or focus more on cutting edge microgravity experiments and cargo missions to serve all humans on Earth?

I admit that human spaceflight is our species’ most exhilarating endeavor, and yet we at ATMOS primarily focus on building sustainable cargo return technologies. I am curious to know what your thoughts are on this matter. 
Three realities still fuel our daily motivation: 
The first: some experiments should not be performed by astronauts in space because they are either too risky or are even disturbed by their presence. The second: the ISS will not be around for much longer. And the third: carrying humans is orders of magnitudes more costly than purely automated systems in LEO. Friday’s panel reflected this awareness and demonstrated how Europe’s (and the world’s) finest minds are working on pushing the frontiers for all sciences, such as AgriTech, material and life sciences.

This Friday, our ATMOS CEO Sebastian Klaus will take the stage ESA/ESTEC annual #SpaceForInspiration 2024 conference for his keynote on our Phoenix Return Capsule. His presentation will be followed by unique panel consisting of leading experts in the growing field of #LEO (Low Earth Orbit) research and technology.

#Microgravity #ATMOS #LEO

Linking resource conservation and sustainability with space technology was the focal point of this year’s #GreenSpaceChallenge by ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg. We congratulate all 10 student teams for their inspiring pitches about the future of sustainable space tech! Job well done! 
ATMOS COO Marta Oliveira and CEO Sebastian Klaus were invited to present our #EVA project in our keynote: “ATMOS, Rocket Factory Augsburg - RFA and Yuri - Three German NewSpace companies launch EVA, the world's first end-to-end microgravity service for biotech research and product development”. Yuri and ATMOS are former ESA BIC incubatees. 

Our personal highlight however was meeting German astronaut Ernst Messerschmid (legend!). 

Thanks to German Aerospace Center (DLR), Alpine Space Ventures, and to Janusz Heitmann, Daniela Hinderer, Dr. Olga Panic-Savanovic, Ernst Messerschmid, Sven Meyer-Brunswick, Martin Prösler and Florian Hachenberger for guiding the students!

It was a pleasure to speak today at the French German Business Forum in Berlin together with Gilles Rabin from Ambassade de France en Allemagne, Sabine von der Recke from OHB SE, Pierre Godart CEO at ArianeGroup GmbH and Zeina Mounzer, CCO at Telespazio VEGA Deutschland. We are aligned on the fact, that France and Germany are the motors of driving European development and sovereignty by boosting the technology to return experiments and cargo from space. It is crucial to strengthen that sovereignty for this and coming generations.
