Avacta Group Plc, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company, develops cancer therapies and diagnostics based on its proprietary Affimer and pre|CISION platforms in the United Kingdom, North America, South Korea, and rest of Asia and Europe. Our mission is to shape the future of medicine by developing safe and efficacious drugs, and high performing diagnostics, based on our proprietary Affimer® and pre|CISIONᵀᴹ platforms. 

The Affimer® platform is a novel class of biotherapeutic based on a naturally occurring human protein. It is Avacta’s proprietary therapeutic platform with its intellectual property covered by several patent families.

Avacta’s proprietary pre|CISIONᵀᴹ targeted chemotherapy platform, releases active drug only in the tumour, thereby limiting systemic exposure and improving the overall safety and therapeutic potential of these powerful anti-cancer treatments. Avacta expects to take its first pre|CISIONᵀᴹ drug candidate, AVA6000, a targeted form of the standard-of-care Doxorubicin, into the clinic by the second half of 2021.

By combining these two platforms the Company is building a pipeline of novel cancer therapies with the aim of creating effective treatments for all cancer patients including those who do not respond to existing immunotherapies.

Avacta’s diagnostics division, based in Wetherby, UK., utilises it’s proprietary Affimer® platform to develop high performing diagnostics and works with partners world-wide to develop Affimer reagents with the objective of establishing royalty bearing license deals.

Dr Fiona McLaughlin, Chief Scientific Officer, Therapeutics, at Avacta, spoke to Drug Discovery World magazine for their article 'Where is the drug discovery expertise happening in the UK?' She told them: “Avacta chose the life science cluster at Scale Space, in the White City Innovation District as the home of its Therapeutics HQ in 2022. A year on, and we can see the benefit of being a member of this thriving life science hub in London, that includes almost 200 life science companies. We have access to a huge talent pool from Imperial College and several other London Universities, and have completed a recruitment round to ensure we have access to cutting edge drug discovery in our labs.”

Dr Fiona McLaughlin, Avacta Therapeutics Chief Scientific Officer, has contributed an article on 'The Future of #Oncology Innovation' to European Biopharmaceutical Review (EBR).

We will be in Boston next week to present positive new data at the International Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics hosted by American Association for Cancer Research - National Cancer Institute (NCI) - EORTC - European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer.
