✨Exactly 29 years ago, we designed the Nirala Residence, which gracefully blends with the surrounding landscape on the slopes of an old English manor outside London. ⚒️Avcı Architects’ role was to act as the designers of both architecture and interiors and the construction managers of the project, one of the first in which Avcı were involved in not only design but the procurement of a high quality building. 🖊️ This project, which began during Selçuk Avcı's tenure as a lecturer at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, features a total enclosed area of 1000 m² and maximizes the use of natural light. Designed in 2016, this exhibition about the engineering marvel that connects Europe and Asia under the sea takes visitors on an unforgettable journey through the tunnel’s construction process, the advanced technology used, and the key players who brought the project to life. 🚗✨ 📍 In this exhibition, featuring interactive displays and the machinery used in tunnel construction, you can compare past and present travel experiences; outside, you can get up close with the massive machines. 🔍 We organized the space using the 5W1H approach: Who? – Discover the key decision-makers and the professions behind the project by learning about the people who made it possible. What? – See the key machinery used in the construction process and the technological wonders involved. Why? – Explore the historical journey of connecting Europe and Asia, understand why such projects are important, and compare them with similar projects around the world. How? – Learn about the tunnel's design process, financial structure, advanced technology used, and various aspects of its operation, including safety, environmental concerns, traffic control, ventilation, and earthquake protection. Where? – Experience how the Eurasia Tunnel, an engineering marvel that connects the Asian and European continents under the Bosphorus in Istanbul, has transformed urban mobility. Nineteen years ago, we designed the Palazzo Dorottya project along the banks of the Danube River! 🏛️✨ This special structure, which combines Budapest's enchanting history with modern design, was more than just a project for us; it was a design journey beyond time. 📍 Details: The ground floor features flexible retail spaces, while the upper levels offer modern offices and unique residences, providing a mixed-use experience. A historical "salt cellar wall" discovered during excavation has been preserved in the building's basement, carrying the traces of the past into the present. The courtyard and interiors reinterpret the classic Austrian-Hungarian style with modern touches. 🌿 Sustainability and Innovation: The project emphasized energy efficiency, incorporating innovative systems like geothermal energy to develop eco-friendly solutions. Every detail was meticulously planned for both aesthetic and functional excellence. 🌟 Experience: Palazzo Dorottya is not just a building; it offers a living space that shapes the future while preserving history.

#FromWithinLife | ''The connection that buildings establish with their surroundings is akin to a person finding themselves by becoming one with the world.'' 🏆 Finalist in the “Best High-Rise” category at the ABB Leaf Awards 2019, our Balance Güneşli project integrates diverse functions harmoniously, fostering interaction with its surroundings and users. 🏞️ We aimed to create a high-quality landscape enriched with green spaces and water features around the nearby Ayamama River, establishing a vibrant neighborhood fabric through thoughtful circulation. 🏙️ A sheltered urban square and permeable structures at the ground level support pedestrian flow, allowing for a connection to the views of the Ayamama River. As Avcı Architects, we designed Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) Istanbul headquarters in collaboration with GENSLER. 🏢 Completed in 2017, this project seamlessly blends global identity with a local touch. Inspired by the motto "Touching Lives, Improving Life," we emphasized long-term success with the "Our Long Blue Line" principle. We optimized the spaces with innovation: 💡 Open Collaboration Areas: Spacious and open areas. 💡 Efficient Workstations: Designed for high productivity. 💡 Quiet Focus Zones: Areas for deep focus. #FromWithinLife | "Tasarımın kalbi, doğduğu yerin ruhunda atar." 🌍 WAF 2018 Finalist'i Kintele Kongre Merkezi projemizde, Kongo'nun kültürel zenginliğini ve yerel dokularını ön planda tuttuk. Proje kapsamında, Kongo’nun geleneksel seremoni maskeleri, amuletler ve ahşap heykellerine yer verdik. Bu unsurlar, Kongo’nun evlilik, doğurganlık, savaş ve diğer yaşam temalarını sembolize ediyor. 🪙 🏛️ Cephe tasarımında, geleneksel Kongo kumaşlarından ilham aldığımız geometrik desenlerle bezenmiş metal perfore paneller kullandık. Ülkenin 15 büyük etnik grubu ve 75 alt grubundan gelen sanat ve heykel çeşitliliğini yansıtmak, projede en büyük hedeflerimizden biriydi. 🌧️ Yağmurun etkisini dikkate alarak, yılın en az 6 ayında kesintisiz devam eden yağmur için çözümler geliştirdik. Açık alanlarda sığınak sağlayarak, kullanıcıların doğadan kopmadan vakit geçirmelerini amaçladık. Yağmur sonrası hava sıcak ve nemli olacağı için, serinletici hava akışlarını korunaklı alanlarda sağladık. Suyun güzelliğini vurgulamak adına, yağmur sularının çatılardan akışını, açık havuzları doldurmasını ve şelaleler aracılığıyla coşkun bir şekilde akmasını tasarladık. 🌊✨ EN - "Design's heart beats in the spirit of its birthplace." 🌍 In our Kintele Conference Center project, a finalist at WAF 2018, we emphasized Congo's cultural richness and local textures. The project features traditional Congolese ceremonial masks, amulets, and wooden sculptures, which symbolize themes of marriage, fertility, war, and other aspects of life. 🪙 🏛️ For the facade design, we used metal perforated panels adorned with geometric patterns inspired by traditional Congolese fabrics. Reflecting the artistic and sculptural diversity from Congo’s 15 major ethnic groups and 75 sub-groups was a primary goal of the project. 🌧️ Considering the impact of rain, which occurs for at least 6 months of the year, we developed solutions to provide shelter in outdoor areas while allowing users to remain connected to nature. Given the hot and humid conditions following rain, we designed sheltered spaces to ensure airflow and cooling. #tbt | Tam 22 yıl önce, BT Openworld’ün Thames Nehri kenarındaki vintage Mondial House binasında yalnızca çalışma alanını değil, yaşam alanını da yeniden tasarladık. Endüstriyel estetiği ve merkezi konumu avantaja çevirerek internet medya hizmetleri tasarımcıları için modern ve yaratıcı bir stüdyo alanı oluşturduk. Sonuç olarak, 600 kişilik bir ekip için ilham verici bir çalışma ortamı sunduk ve British Council for Offices (BCO) tarafından düzenlenen ödül programında 2005 yılının kısa listesinde yer aldık. 🏆✨ EN - 22 years ago, we redesigned not just the workspace but also the living space for BT Openworld in the vintage Mondial House building by the Thames. By leveraging the industrial aesthetic and central location, we created a modern and creative studio environment for internet media service designers.
