Katherine Dudtschak, (she / her) ICD.D, a trailblazer in inclusion and CEO of HomeEquity Bank, joined BLG's Peter Sullivan (he/him/his), chair of BLG's PRIDE Action Committee, for our national Pride webinar. Hundreds of firm members, clients, and alumni gathered to hear Katherine share her personal gender affirmation story and learned how we can support one another to foster a more inclusive society.

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. Yesterday, we heard Indigenous languages spoken on stage at Collision Conf when Natiea Vinson, CEO of First Nations Technology Council, James Delorme, CEO of Indigelink Digital Inc, and Jeff Ward, CEO of Animikii Indigenous Technology, discussed Indigenous perspectives on AI.

From preserving and revitalizing languages to empowering workers, AI is finding a valuable place in Indigenous communities. So, how can people and organizations help?

There is no better time than today to get out into the community and start these conversations.

In honor of National Indigenous History Month in Canada, we encourage you to celebrate the cultures, languages, contributions, and heritage of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. This June is extra special for Marcel Colomb First Nation, a remote Northern Manitoba First Nation, as it marks 25 years since being formally recognized as a distinct First Nation by the Canadian government. MCFN commemorated this milestone on June 19th with a ceremony in Black Sturgeon. 

Last year, Chris Roine and a BLG team had the privilege of representing MCFN in negotiating a groundbreaking revenue-sharing agreement with Alamos Gold Inc. for the proposed Lynn Lake Gold Project. The agreement and project are poised to benefit the community through commitments on jobs and training, heightened environmental protections, and revenue sharing.
