The company’s state-of-the-art facility, located in the Midwest, is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2024. Three additional facilities will open over the next several years, which will enable Blue Polymers to recycle plastics from across the country.

This 162,000-square-foot will support sustainable packaging manufacturing throughout the Western United States and is expected to create more than 60 highly skilled permanent jobs when it opens in Buckeye in the second half of 2025. Blue Polymers’ facilities aim to support true package-to-package circularity, with an annual production target of 300+ million pounds of recycled resins. The Buckeye facility joins the previously announced Indianapolis location as part of Blue Polymers’ network of four regional facilities. Did you know that just 7% to 8% of the materials sorted by material recycling facilities are plastics? Given this small percentage, MRFs oftentimes don’t invest in complex technology for highly fractionated sorting of these materials. Republic Services ’ new Polymer Center, the first of four planned, along with its partnership with Ravago to form Blue Polymers , is addressing this challenge by aggregating plastics from Republic’s regional sorting centers and further sorting and processing them to create high-quality recycled PET and polyolefins.
