The Botswana Development Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “BDC” or the “Corporation”) is the Government’s main investment arm established in 1970 as a private company and wholly owned by the Government of Botswana through the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).

OUR MANDATE
BDC’s primary mandate is to provide and facilitate funding of commercially viable projects and/or enterprises that contribute towards industrialisation, economic development, and diversification. 
The Corporation provides debt, equity, and mezzanine funding both domestically, regionally, and internationally.

THE JOURNEY OF HOPE CONTINUES AS BDC UNLOCKS NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) is proud to announce the official opening of Delta Automotive Technologies’ Electric Wiring Harness Manufacturing Plant, a significant milestone in Botswana’s journey towards technological innovation and economic diversification. The event, held in Lobatse this morning, was officiated by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Mmusi Kgafela. The launch of this cutting-edge facility is set to position Botswana as a critical player in the global automotive supply chain, with the plant specialising in the production of high-quality electric wiring harnesses for some of the world’s leading automotive brands. This project aligns with Botswana’s Vision 2036 and the national objective of becoming a high-income, export-led economy. Honourable Mmusi Kgafela, Minister of Trade and Industry, who officiated the launch, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, "Delta Automotive Technologies is a testament to our commitment to innovation and partnerships with global automotive leaders. This facility not only strengthens Botswana’s position in the international automotive landscape but also contributes to job creation, community development, and economic growth." Reflecting on the company’s growth, the BDC Managing Director, Mr Cross Kgosidiile noted: "Delta Automotive's story is a testament to what visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and strategic investment can achieve. Today, we mark the next chapter in this remarkable journey—a chapter that demonstrates the strength of Botswana’s industrial capabilities, its workforce, and the strategic partnerships we have cultivated along the way.” The plant represents more than technological advancement—it symbolises Botswana’s commitment to economic diversification and innovation, ensuring that the country not only meets the automotive industry's demands today but is also prepared for the future of electric vehicles and smart technology.

BDC LAUNCHES MILK AFRIC Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has officially launched the Milk Afric Dairy Project, marking a pivotal moment in Botswana’s journey toward food security and economic diversification. The launch in Lobatse attracted key stakeholders, including government officials and industry leaders, united in their commitment to the growth of the dairy sector. Mr. Cross Kgosidiile, Managing Director of BDC, highlighted the significance of Milk Afric, noting its successful development of essential infrastructure, such as dairy processing equipment and local cattle procurement. "This project represents more than dairy—it is a testament to our dedication to quality and sustainability," Kgosidiile remarked. Milk Afric's Caretaker CEO, Mr. Botshelo Mokotedi, emphasized innovation in the project, including advanced farming techniques like artificial insemination and embryo transfer, which boost efficiency and sustainability. He stressed the project’s local impact, fostering partnerships with farmers and creating job opportunities in Lobatse. In his keynote address, Honourable Mmusi Kgafela, Minister of Trade and Industry, outlined the importance of boosting local milk production, which currently meets only 15% of the national demand. He called for further investment to expand production and enhance processing capabilities. Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Honourable Molebatsi Molebatsi, concluded by emphasising the project’s alignment with Vision 2036, reaffirming the government's commitment to building a self-sufficient dairy sector. As Milk Afric embarks on this exciting journey, it is poised to catalyse growth in the dairy industry, fostering innovation and excellence. The project not only represents a significant advancement for Botswana’s agricultural sector but also serves as a beacon of hope for economic growth, job creation, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the region.
