We're excited and honoured to share that the Prime Ministers Office Council for Science and Technology’s (CST) advice on 'Harnessing Research and Development in the UK Creative Industries’, has been published online with 'Evidence and Case Studies' featuring BrainsparkGames!

"Innovative companies such as BrainsparkGames Games highlight the potential for gaming to engage and support neurodiverse children through alternative approaches to education. In addition to support from Barclays UK, Ukie - The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment, Games London 'Game Changer' Accelerator and UK Games Angels led by Nick Button-Brown, Brainspark Games are collaborating with 6+ local authorities and 38 schools to playtest their games across the UK. The company is currently developing GCSE games and pioneering Innovate UK funded neurogames technology."

The report emerged following a roundtable meeting with the Council of Science & Technology, which took place in June 2023, chaired by Brooke Rogers OBE  Julia Black with attendance and insights from Leo Rees Daniel Wood Nihal Tharoor Jim Horth Sivesh Sukumar and our founder Reedah El-Saie

BrainsparkGames had an amazing time at the Digital Schoolhouse Playful Computing Conference! Organised by Ukie  and supported by industry leaders like Nintendo, PlayStation, Electronic Arts (EA), SEGA, Ubisoft, and Outright Games, this event brought together educators and industry experts to shape the future of digital and creative learning.

Some of the key highlights we took away were developments in game-based learning, careers education and gaining valuable insights on integrating careers education for the video games, exploring the role of esports in engaging students and artificial intelligence, learning how teaching computing and STEM subjects using cutting-edge technological developments, including AI and mixed reality.

The day was filled with fun, creativity, and exploration whilst networking with professionals from world-leading video games companies and exchanging ideas with like-minded educators Apps for Good, digit<all> and Blunt & Brave.

BrainsparkGames Games kicked off London EdTech Week with the announcement of our £1.4m raise consisting of ‘Super Angel’ investment and our 7th Innovate UK ‘Investor Partnership’ match funding grant. Our founder Reedah El-Saie enjoyed sharing her journey at the European Edtech Marathon hosted by TechUK. 

A range of expert insights, personal experiences and tips were shared across the panel (insert names) with lively discussions around building sustainable, growth models, balancing short-term wins with long-term vision, attracting and retaining top talent, leveraging technology for scalability, responding to market trends and sharing valuable real-world case studies. Connecting with fellow panelists Al Kingsley, Mike Tarrant, Patrick McGrath, Robin Beattie and the wider Edtech community was a great opportunity to see where the industry is heading.

***BRAINSPARK GAMES RAISES £1.4M IN ANGEL & GRANT FUNDING!***
 
London,UK: BrainsparkGames today announced it's £1.4m raise combining Angel investment and its 7th Innovate UK ‘Investor Partnership’ grant. £700k has been secured, and match funded, with participation from a range of ‘Super Angels’ consisting of seasoned investors, games/education industry veterans, exited founders and institutional backers. Led by Dave Haynes Petri Rajahalme of FOV Ventures, Wahed Ventures and Nick Button-Brown of The Games Angels (Jonathan Bunney, Callum Underwood Afsor Miah Vince Farquharson), the round attracted investment from; Islée Oliva Salinas, Michael A. C. Buckley, Märt Lume, Sadik Miah and a number of private individuals.

The raise was oversubscribed offering SEIS/EIS to investors. Funding will be used to support tech development, production and sales talent. The team has spent the last 2years undertaking deep R&D, to drive innovation, supported by 7 Innovate UK grants amounting to £1.3m, working with world class universities.

Founder, mother of 3 and qualified barrister, Reedah El-Saie, seedfunded £470k for the early stages. Brainspark Games is a multi-award winning EdTech Gaming studio, building free, AI-powered, AR, educational games aligned with the UK curriculum key stages 2&3 & GCSEs. 

FOV Ventures, investing in founders building the metaverse, is a Finnish fund with partners Dave Haynes & Petri Rajahalme, based in London/Helsinki. The two partners have deep experience in the XR space, having actively invested in it for the past 5years. “FOV Ventures believes we’re entering a new era of increasingly intelligent and immersive apps and experiences. By leveraging technology such as AI/XR we’re excited for Brainspark Games and Reedah's mission to radically augment and enhance how the UK curriculum can be delivered to diverse students,” Dave Haynes.

Märt Lume spent over a decade in the games industry, and believes educational and life experiences can be enhanced by applying good game design. He was the first hire at Glitch ,which pivoted to Slack. Since 2017, Märt has been angel investing in education and VR/AR startups and founded Futuclass. In 2022, he was awarded 'Friend of Education' for his contributions to Estonia’s world-class education ecosystem.

Wahed Ventures, is a leading fintech with over 350,000 clients and backed by investors Aramco Ventures and Cue Ball Capital. They specialise in investing in high growth, Shari’ah-compliant tech startups and co-invest alongside leading VC funds.

Nick Button-Brown has 25yrs+ in the tech & games industry and is Chair at Outright Games. Nick helped grow & scale Improbable, which raised more than $600m, backed by Andreessen Horowitz and SoftBank Investment Advisers.
