It's been another HUGE year for lending a helping paw here at Butternut 🐾

Our goal is to bring health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. And in 2023, we're proud to have donated 77 thousand meals to dogs in need and spent over 900 hours volunteering alongside our charity partners.

That's a lot of full bellies and wagging tails 🐶

16 November - 16 December is Disability Awareness Month.

Here is a snapshot of how our squad celebrated and built their understanding of those with disabilities.

Sophie shed light on the rich history of Disability History in the UK, exploring key milestones and the current landscape of disability rights.

🐾  The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Meet and Greet
Since 1931 this incredible charity has transformed 36,000 lives through guide dog partnerships. We welcomed Dunton, Pearl and Che to our London office to learn firsthand about Guide Dogs’ impactful work in enhancing accessibility.

 A not-for-profit social enterprise partnered with Toucan Employment. They empower individuals facing unique challenges by offering on-the-job training and fostering confidence for future employment.

Giving back is a big part of life here at Butternut, and this is why we regularly lend a helping paw to dogs in need 💛

Some of the squad recently left the office for a volunteering day at Foal Farm Animal Rescue, where they got to work clearing the dog walking path (and hanging out with the animal residents, of course).

Celebrating Black History Month at Butternut Box.

As October came to a close, we wanted to take a moment to share how we’ve celebrated Black History Month.

Food: We highlighted local black-owned businesses and enjoyed catered lunches from them throughout the month. Support locals and savour the flavours! (see comments for their details)

Wellness session: We had the privilege of hosting a virtual wellness session with the talented Coach and Therapist, Tiffany M Fuller.  Tiffany, with Jamaican and Chinese heritage, shared her expertise as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and practical mindfulness tools.

Learning and growth: We compiled a resource list covering a wide range of topics related to Black History Month in the UK. New books, a mix of fiction and non-fiction, written by and about the Black community were available for borrowing, and we promoted nearby in-person and virtual events.

Share Your Stories: A dedicated Slack channel for those who wished to engage in deeper conversations or simply need a safe space to discuss Black History Month. We shared stories and interviews with some of our squad members who wanted to take part.

Our squad embraced the spirit of Halloween.

There’s one more twist to this spooky tale. Our furry companions 🐕 also joined in the Halloween fun. They dressed up in their spookiest (and cutest) costumes and were rewarded with tasty treats and plenty of belly rubs.

A massive thank you to our amazing squad for making this event a hauntingly good time, and to our talented costume designers. Our team’s spirit is as infectious as it is spooky.

At Butternut, we believe in creating a workplace that values the work and dedication of our squad members.

At Butternut Box, we believe that sustainability goes far beyond just throwing our rubbish in the right bin (but that’s important too). Change needs to come from within, and we want to lead the way in making a positive impact. That’s why we’re proud to share our 2022 Impact Report with the world. 

There’s lots of things we’re proud of achieving in 2022, including…

- Becoming a B-Corp with a score of 82.6
- Generating 100% of our energy from renewable sources
- Donating 118,358 meals to dogs in need

We’ve spent September welcoming back the squad to the office after Remote August. It’s been a pleasure seeing familiar and new faces reunited.
