BYBORRE is an Amsterdam based textile innovation studio working on the frontiers of material development, functionality and aesthetics through engineered knits. Our signature is the innovative hand-rendered techniques that, through direct interaction with their circular knitting machines, gives us full creative freedom to play with patterns, colours, and textures within textiles.

Designing from the yarn up allows us to discover new possibilities both within our own collections and for leading brands. Over the past six years we have worked with clients such as Rapha, adidas, BMW, and Natuzzi. Through consultation and collaboration with other brands, we push knit innovation to find creative ways to achieve the project’s goal.

Our Amsterdam based HQ studio houses a knitting and innovation Lab, a fully outfitted atelier, a team of specialists and experts, a BYBORRE archive, and endless amounts of crazy textiles.

Turning back to a recent highlight with Rivian, we were delighted to provide a textile which was included in the unveiling of their new R2 and R3 vehicle series.

It was a great opportunity to showcase our textiles in action, with some wonderful images to show for it! Produced on Create™ we have our 3D knit on full display; the custom blanket features some wonderful pops of color. They used the textile to create a cozy blanket for the car, integrating it seamlessly into the vehicle.

We always appreciate the opportunity to apply our textiles and watch creative visions come to life!

Mark your calendars — our founder, Borre Akkersdijk, will join an esteemed panel at Vogue Polska's 5th annual Business Fashion Environment Summit in Warsaw on October 8, 2024.

This summit will gather some of the brightest minds in the fashion and textile industry, including key sustainability advocates with discussions focusing on global governance, policymaking, and the future of sustainable production. It promises to be an event full of inspiring and insightful conversations!

Borre will speak on the panel, "Transforming Supply Chains: Technology, Transparency, and Sustainability," alongside industry leaders such as Leyla Ertur (H&M Group), Dagmara Brzezinska (InPost), and Magda Dziewguc (Google Cloud Poland Sp. z o.o.). They will explore how new technologies are reshaping supply chains to create a more ethical and resilient production ecosystem.

Last week, we hosted an open workshop at Design Academy Eindhoven, onboarding the next generation of conscious creators onto Create™, our platform for responsible textile creation.

🎓 Guided by our team, students were invited to dive deep into the world of digital textile design, exploring how they can use Create™ to design custom textiles from the yarn up. 

🦾 We believe that by empowering young designers with accessible tools and knowledge, we can pave the way for a brighter future in textiles.

Exploring the Art of Patience. 

We're pleased to announce the release of 'Patience',  a short film by Optical Arts in collaboration with BYBORRE. Amidst the frenetic pace of the modern world, where time slips through our finders like sand, there exists a timeless virtue that beckons us to pause, breathe, and embrace the art of waiting. 'Patience' is an ode to the power and beauty of slowing down in age of instant gratification.  

In this cinematic odyssey, the creative studio visualizes BYBORRE® textiles on familiar objects to create a  daydream experience,  a mental space where new ideas can be projected and assembled. In this surreal space, where the spatial and temporal boundaries blur, the film is an invitation to think outside the box and explore new territories.
