CargoBeamer is a logistics company that specializes in the transportation of semi-trailers by rail, aiming to make rail freight transport more efficient and environmentally friendly. The company operates a network of routes across Europe and offers services that allow for the seamless transfer of trailers between road and rail, reducing carbon emissions and traffic congestion.

The CargoBeamer Group is a logistics service provider in the “combined transportation road-rail segment” based in Leipzig, Germany. Thanks to the company's technology of railcars, handling terminals and logistics software nearly all standard semi-trailers of all types can use the train – without additional conversions and reinforcements for the trailer and even without a driver and tractor unit. CargoBeamer trains currently run on five different routes including locations in Germany, France, Italy, Poland and the UK. In the medium-term CargoBeamer will realize a European route-network of high-performing and innovative transhipment facilities at important transport hubs. This will secure sustainable rail-transport for hundreds of thousands of semi-trailers per year – reducing CO2-emissions and relieving environment and society.

Kaldenkirchen Terminal is coming - First construction tender is out 🏗️

Construction of the first CargoBeamer-Terminanl on German ground will start soon, and the first tender package for suppliers of mechanical and electrical engineering has been published recently. The site in Kaldenkirchen will be one of the most modern road-rail transshipment terminals in Europe, allowing semi-trailers to be shifted on a freight train horizontally and fully automated. While the first tender will close for applications in June, additional tender packages regarding general construction, underfloor, and prefabricated concrete parts will be published soon. 🛠️

CargoBeamer secures € 140 million investment capital 🚀

We are proud to announce a major financial milestone by securing € 140 million as a part of a Series B financing round. A total of € 90 million in funding commitments are granted by the German Federal Railway Authority (“EBA”) and the Swiss Bundesamt für Verkehr BAV to be used to construct two new CargoBeamer-Terminals in Kaldenkirchen (Germany) and Domodossola (Italy). An additional € 50 million was provided by private shareholders. 🚅

CEO Nicolas Albrecht says: „CargoBeamer is one of the most important innovations in European freight transport in recent decades. […] The fact that public funds are now flowing into CargoBeamer on a large scale is ample proof of the importance of our technology – and yet another strong argument in the ongoing fundraising process.” 📈

Expanding our intermodal partnership with UPS 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽

We are happy to share the successful test with UPS between Domodossola and Bari, the new CargoBeamer connection which was established earlier this year. From Bari, the UPS semi-trailer continued its journey to Patras in Greece, completing an unaccompanied international long-bridge transport between Southern and Central Europe. 📦

CargoBeamer and UPS have been collaborating to enable sustainable transport of parcel deliveries for several months now. Alongside the existing partnership on Kaldenkirchen <> Domodossola, the addition of this new corridor in another great initiative to decarbonize supply chains while fulfilling delivery commitments to customers. 🌳
