The company is also involved in banking, insurance, property development, and franchise activities; the provision of travel agency services; and the rental of shopping malls. As of December 31. 2021, it operated 253 hypermarkets, 1,043 supermarkets, 4,330 convenience stores, 147 cash and carry outlets, and 26 soft discount stores in France; 457 hypermarkets, 1,926 supermarkets, 3,430 convenience stores, 12 cash and carry outlets, and 81 soft discount stores in rest of Europe; 184 hypermarkets, 151 supermarkets, 558 convenience stores, 259 cash and carry outlets, and one soft discount store in Argentina and Brazil; and 70 hypermarkets, four supermarkets, and 274 convenience stores in Taiwan, as well as 688 stores through local franchisee partners in Middle East, Africa, etc. Carrefour SA was founded in 1959 and is based in Massy, France.

We all know that Climate Change is intensifying, therefore it is critical that organisations and individuals take mitigating actions. At Carrefour, we are committed to a 29% Co2 reduction in the production of our products by 2030.

To achieve this, we have recently joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition which gives us the opportunity to track Co2 emissions across our Tier 1 suppliers; this data is crucial in helping us to collaborate with our suppliers in taking corrective action.

As the majority of our products emissions, specifically across our electrical items, come from post purchase use, we will take a deeper look at the engineering of these goods ensuring we can take eco-conception design action at an earlier stage.

Another important act of awareness is educating our employees; empowering them to make adjustments to their daily life and work. To do this we recently held Climate Fresk Workshops across our Hong Kong, India and Bangladesh offices to engage the collective intelligence of our employees in unlocking new initiatives that we as a business and as individuals can implement in response to this crisis.

Here at Carrefour Global Sourcing, we just had our first Digital week!

To deliver Carrefour's ambition to become a Digital Retail Company, Carrefour Global Sourcing has developed a solid roadmap to translate this vision into meaningful actions for our business. To achieve this, we have committed to educate, provide resources and tools to all our employees across our 7 countries!

Last week we organised our first Digital Week, aiming to connect this strategy to our teams day to day work, providing concrete application examples, focusing on mindset changes and skills building!

During the full week, our teams attended various seminars and workshops to learn more about how data and digital tools, combined with a mindset shift will help us:

·     To better serve our customers through providing better experiences
·     To do our jobs better, faster and more efficiently
·     To take better decisions in our day to day work through being more autonomous
·     To create new business opportunity by utilising these new skills

It's always really fun and inspiring when we get to learn about new initiatives from other parts of the Carrefour Group!

It was such a joy to see the many #internationalwomensday celebrations across our Global Sourcing Offices!

We are so inspired by our courageous female colleagues along with this years theme of #embraceequity that we knew we wanted to do something more long-term to build an inclusive and equitable workplace together. 

We are excited to launch 'Allies - Together we Thrive' - a forum for our Women to be empowered through the development of meaningful networks, knowledge & skills, along with driving impactful locally relevant change, both internally & in the local communities we operate in. We believe in #equity and #growingtogether so this forum will be co-led by both female and male volunteers with the support of our Sponsors who are committed in seeing that this forum has a voice and platform to create lasting positive impact!
