Cassina, founded in Meda in 1927, launched industrial design in Italy during the 1950s by taking a completely new approach which saw a shift from handcraftsmanship to serial production.
Cassina has always had a pioneering attitude thanks to its commitment to research and innovation, combining technological skill with traditional craftsmanship and involving important architects and designers to envision new forms and transform them into projects.

On August 2, the Cassina Store Osaka unveiled its new interiors, renovated to reflect the company’s vision of the home, as expressed in ‘The Cassina Perspective’.

Opened in 1998, the Cassina Store Osaka is located along Midosuji Avenue, which is beautifully lined with ginkgo trees, lush green in summer and golden in autumn. As the second most important store after the one in Tokyo, it has long been a leader in the interior design industry in western Japan.

At the centre of the store, the generous proportions of Moncloud, the system designed by Patricia Urquiola with an innovative and conscious soul, dialogue with the refined design of the Table Monta coffee table by Charlotte Perriand in the living area, while the Longplane table by Rodolfo Dordoni and the Committee Chair small armchairs from the Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret collection combine to create an elegant atmosphere in the dining area. 

The new Cassina 2024 Outdoor Collection is also displayed among the home settings. The essential lines of the Mex-Hi Outdoor system by Piero Lissoni and iconic Utrecht XL Outdoor armchair by Gerrit T. Rietveld, are the protagonists of a versatile and dynamic open-air space.

Renovation of the Cassina Store Osaka further strengthens the brand's position in Japan, where it has been present for over 30 years, and with four stores with Cassina ixc.

Cassina is pleased to announce its participation in Italia Geniale, a design exhibition organized by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy and the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the ADI Design Museum.

This exhibition accompanies the Amerigo Vespucci on its world tour.

Cassina has embraced this opportunity by showcasing the Feltri armchair, designed by Gaetano Pesce. The presentation occurred recently during the first stage of the tour in Los Angeles.

This exhibition underscores the impact of Italian design and creativity in enhancing people's lives worldwide, allowing individuals to achieve a higher quality of life through everyday objects that have become iconic and serve as ambassadors of Made in Italy.

The exhibition will continue to follow the Villaggio Italia to Tokyo, Darwin, Singapore, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah, and will conclude in Durres at the beginning of 2025.

The 699 Superleggera chair, conceived by Gio Ponti and produced by Cassina since 1957, stands as the flagship of the company's catalogue and has been awarded a Compasso d’Oro Career Award this year.

Envisioned as an evolved and "slimmed down" version of the Leggera 646, the 699 Superleggera is the result of Gio Ponti's research on strength and lightness. He aimed to create the lightest and most resilient chair possible, pushing the Cassina craftsmen to the limits of their capabilities.

Its defining feature, the ability to be lifted with a single finger due to its featherlight weight of merely 1,700 grams, renders this ash and beech chair unparalleled and inimitable, both iconic and widely emulated. It harmoniously marries artisanal craftsmanship with industrial innovation.

Inspired by the traditional Ligurian wooden and straw chairs from Chiavari, also known as chiavarine, the 699 Superleggera, has captivated and continues to enchant aficionados of the brand with its deceptive simplicity. After all, the "master" himself cherished saying: "A chair-chair, without adjectives"—though one, at least, is warranted: "superleggera," indeed.

Today, it is produced in natural ash or stained in white, black, or red, with a seat available in india cane or padded upholstery.

What is #Cassina Quality Week?

Cassina Quality Week has just ended, the internal company event where the quality processes that make the brand a world leader in the creation of design products are shared with all employees. 

Durability, quality of materials, precision in assembly, sustainability, reliability and innovation: these are the cornerstones that revolve around the concept of quality of which the company becomes an ambassador; in this quality process, which aims to also keep the craftsmanship of the products intact, the company's people are an active part. 

During the Quality Week, Cassina conducted 14 training sessions open to 250 participants. Additionally, 18 departments were involved, resulting in a total of 10 hours of training provided.

The human capital that animates Cassina is a fundamental reference in being able to bring the excellence of the brand all over the world. 
The Quality Week confirmed this by placing a distinctive seal on the company culture.

From 8 to 12 July 2024, the company dedicates the week to its employees in a celebration of the culture of quality.
A training initiative for employees, Quality Week is centred around deepening their knowledge of the vast assortment of materials used by the firm.

This event was also created with the aim of celebrating and strengthening the manufacturing excellence that has consistently distinguished the brand and its products. 

During a series of information sessions, experts from the departments involved share their knowledge with their colleagues by focusing on the raw materials used in the company’s production processes. Research and identification of innovative materials will be discussed, a sign of the path undertaken by #Cassina to rethink the future of design and adopt an approach oriented towards greater sustainability.

With the first edition of Quality Week, the company confirms its commitment to creating an excellent working environment and its interest in the people who are part of it.

Two new important awards for two #Cassina excellences

The 699 Superleggera chair, product of Cassina’s collaboration with Gio Ponti in the 1950s, has been awarded a Compasso d’Oro Career Award.

699 Superleggera exemplifies an experimental design that, over time, has become a symbol of Italian design. Present continuously in the Cassina collection since 1957, the chair becomes part of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Collection, declared on 22 April 2004 by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities to be of "exceptional artistic and historical interest". This is the 5th Compasso d'Oro for Cassina since 1954.

In addition to this prestigious recognition, Cassina also received an Honourable Mention for the Esosoft sofa by Antonio Citterio, a system designed for the living area characterised by an elegant and timeless design which draws upon contemporary production techniques.
This is not the ﬁrst time Cassina has received honourable mentions for its ability to design in an innovative and conscious way.
