In 1892, Albino Pestoni, an immigrant from a Swiss town near the Italian border, planted his first Napa Valley vineyard and built a winery to reproduce the wines of his homeland. His enormously popular wines were all estate grown and crafted, marking the beginning of artisanal winemaking in Napa Valley. His family continues to produce fine Napa wines.
