Carbon capture and storage is "regarded by the White House, the United Nations and the International Energy Agency as crucial to preserving any hope of meeting the world’s climate goals"--but local communities must be on board.

Community buy-in comes through building trust, which requires proactive, consistent, and transparent outreach about the benefits and potential impacts of CCS. Through our community engagement work, we've found mineral storage to be more acceptable to stakeholders because mineralizing CO2 eliminates leakage risk. 

We look forward to continuing to invest in understanding and addressing community stakeholders questions.

A new CCS venture is being launched in Africa and it will be carried out by RepAir Carbon Capture and Cella, who have partnered up for this project. RepAir is a Direct Air Capture company and Cella is a carbn storage technology company.

RepAir’s most recent partnership involves Cella and this collaboration will focus on creating multiple dedicated value chains, which will be used for extracting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

The article below focuses on a project that is being set up, which shows that the companies have aimed to include every environmentally friendly benefit. This spans across the purpose of the project itself and it includes things such as what the plant will run on.
