As part of our commitment to address hunger and food insecurity, yesterday in Orlando, thousands of Chick-fil-A Owners-Operators and Chick-fil-A, Inc. staff volunteered together to pack two million meals for those in need. 

In partnership with U.S. Hunger and Convoy of Hope, these meals will be distributed to support disaster relief efforts and help combat food insecurity in underserved communities.

“Why do tech at a chicken company? There's a lot that goes on behind our chicken sandwich. We’re known for our customer service, and there’s a vital human aspect to that service — but there’s also a lot of innovative technology that goes on in the background that the customer may never see. 
 
As lead platform engineer for the Digital Shared Platforms team, it’s my responsibility to lead the technical strategy, support and maintenance for multiple platforms that enable collaboration at Chick-fil-A, Inc.  
 
The daily challenge of making sure everything is flowing properly and running smoothly is exciting and fulfilling for me. From a change management perspective, my focus is to make sure we’re releasing the tools and the features that increase productivity for our staff and our restaurants. 
 
For me personally, I love helping people. I love process improvement. I love fixing issues. In this role, I love that I’m making a difference for people and helping them work better together.”

Graham Rodgers started with Chick-fil-A as an Intern during college, and has worked on staff in Restaurant Development for the past 5 years. Read his perspective on his work, Chick-fil-A's business growth, and how he strikes a healthy work-life balance. 
 
Q: What is it like to work as a Property Management Representative for Chick-fil-A, Inc.? 
 
“When I started in the Restaurant Development department, I was supporting our mall leasing portfolio and the strategy around that. Now, I work in a property management role for the West region.  
 
Once a Chick-fil-A restaurant building is open and operating, our team focuses on supporting the franchisee Operators with navigating the day-to-day realities of the restaurant property – including the lease, on-site traffic or safety issues. 
 
This could mean working with the city when one of our restaurants might be impacted by a street widening project. Or it could be as simple as being a good neighbor by clarifying maintenance responsibilities with other tenants in a shopping center.  
 
The Restaurant Development team at Chick-fil-A, inc. puts a strong emphasis on cultivating relationships. A lot of my role is about maintaining a strong connection with our Operators so they know who to call when a property need comes up. We work together to build strong relationships with their property landlords, neighboring tenants and municipalities, so we can proactively and reactively mitigate any property conflicts that arise.”  
 
Q: How has Chick-fil-A's growth impacted your work? 
 
“The work that I’m supporting now, it’s changed immensely. We are definitely a growing company. So as our restaurants are being designed, the development team is forecasting the volume that they’ll be serving in three years – not present day. Operators are figuring out ways to sell more chicken, so my team will keep having to figure out how to get cars on and off their site. Especially as drive-thru traffic has increased.” 
 
Q: How do you strike a balance with your work commitments and your personal life? 
 
“My wife and I have a new baby girl, so my hobbies now include changing diapers and preparing her for bath time. We have an incredible culture of care at Chick-fil-A, so when I was out on paternity leave, I didn’t have to worry about work. I knew my team had my back.”
