Pleased to announce that circularity investee PackBenefit has joined the REDYSIGN consortium.

Funded by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), the four-year initiative aims to redesign and develop fresh food packaging to make it fully bio-based, smart and recyclable at conventional paper recycling mills. 

The end product will ensure the efficient use of chemicals, water and energy, while supporting the reduction of GHG emissions, energy use and material consumption.

Every year, more than 380 billion m3 of municipal wastewater is produced globally, with predictions from the European Investment Bank suggesting that volumes will increase by upwards of 24% before 2030. 

One company leading the charge when it comes to tackling the issue is Circularity investee CERAFILTEC. The company designs and manufactures ceramic ultrafiltration membrane solutions used for the treatment of drinking water, as well as wastewater for re-use, desalination and industrial applications.

Ultrafiltration membranes are a key enabler for both increased water quality and re-use through the removal of microplastics and industrial pollutants like PFAS to expand clean water access, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In a bid to tackle global food waste, Circularity investee Winnow has partnered with Ne'ma - the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative in the UAE. Covering farms, producers and distributors, its primary objective is to challenge existing behaviours and attitudes, fostering a national social norm around responsible consumption. 

Joining as a technical partner, Winnow will support the initiative with data, benchmarking and best practices for the HoReCa sector. The collaboration will see the two develop an API integration that enables Winnow users to directly contribute to the UAE's food waste baseline - aligning with its mission to halve food waste by 2030.
