ClavystBio  Senior Associate Ning Mao  shared the stage with Rena Dharmawan  Kevin SW TAN  and Judy Sng  at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine’ Science Festival in a panel on career paths in #biomedical science.

Moderator Hataitip Tasena, PhD took a poll among the audience of grad students, post docs and undergrads: about 30% were set on pursuing academia, 40% were still on the fence, and 30% were interested in exploring alternative career options.

 At ClavystBio, we see the diverse backgrounds of our team as a strength when it comes to #venturebuilding. Some of us come from academia, others from finance, public sector, arts and the world of start-ups. As Ning, an academic transplant herself, shared: “Keep your options open, network widely and talk to others who have diverged from one path and found fulfilment in another in the biomedical field.”

Originating in Prof Huilin Shao's lab at National University of Singapore, Sunbird’s amplified plasmonic exosome (APEX) technology detects extracellular vesicles and the proteins bound to them —potentially revolutionizing early detection and response monitoring in clinical trials. 

“It can detect down to the nanometer size, but most importantly, it’s about 10,000 times more sensitive than currently available blood-based Alzheimer’s diagnostic tests,” said Sunbird Executive Chairman and CEO John McDonough
