ClearCam is an Austin, TX based, MedTech startup, that develops technology to improve the surgeons' visual field during minimally invasive procedures nationwide. Our device, ClearScope™, provides continuous vision and clarity throughout laparoscopic procedures without removing the scope from the body cavity. The wiper, swift tip™, cleans the distal lens of the scope with a simple twist. 

ClearScope™ slides onto the scope as a sleeve and secures with a tether that wraps around the light port. The wiper is connected to a mechanical ships wheel that is rotated using minimal force. 

ClearScope is effective against condensation, blood, fat and fluids. No extra accessories required.

🌬️Dry & cold CO2 v. Humidified and warm CO2🌞 for Insufflation.
🌡️ We’ve made multiple posts on the dangers of lens fogging during laparoscopy, but have you ever wondered why surgeons don’t just use dry, cold CO2 to fix this problem? While it might seem like a simple solution, it’s not that straightforward.

According to Maria Mercedes Binda, who published her findings in the Springerlink.com (Linked below), Insufflating cold, dry CO2 can actually cause peritoneal damage, post-op pain, hypothermia, and adhesions. 🌬️🥶 That’s why humidified and warm CO2 is used instead! 🌞 It helps prevent these complications and makes the post-op experience much less painful. Even with lens fogging and obscured visualization, this setup is the current standard for surgeons, as ensuring patient safety and comfort is always their top priority.

Today we would like to change things up and share a great experience we recently had, meeting with Moon Surgical's Josh Christensen who gave us a live demo of the Maestro System at Dell Seton Medical Center at the The University of Texas at Austin of Texas. Maestro is a recently FDA Cleared platform that augments the precision and control of laparoscopic surgery. Check out the video below. This has great potential to improve the delivery of minimally invasive surgery in many new environments.

Various factors can divert attention: misalignment of visual and motor axes, lens contamination, and equipment issues, are common causes of the increase in mental workload and error rates. 🏥🔍
