It provides ostomy care products, including SenSura Mio, which provides fit individual body shapes and optimal discretion for various types of ostomies; and SenSura Ostomy care solutions, as well as ostomy accessories under the Brava brand. The company also offers continence care products, such as Conveen Active urine bags; SpeediCath catheters that offer catheterization for both genders; and Peristeen, a transanal irrigation system. In addition, it provides wound care products comprising conforming dressing under the Biatain Silicone brand and hydrocolloid dressing under the Comfeel brand; and skin care products that include cleansers, moisturizers, skin protectants, antifungal products, hand cleanser, and odor control products, as well as InterDry, a skin fold management solution. Further, the company develops, produces, and markets products for the surgical treatment of urological and gynecological disorders, such as urinary stone diseases, benign prostate hyperplasia, voiding dysfunctions, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence. Additionally, it offers voice and respiratory products, including medical devices for neck stoma under the Provox brand; and products for tracheostoma under the TRACOE brand. The company was founded in 1954 and is headquartered in Humlebæk, Denmark.

Coloplast has officially broken ground in Portugal! ⛏️

Last week, we broke ground at Felgueiras in the Northern part of Portugal, signalling the start of our growth plan to extend our production capabilities throughout Europe, beyond our current operations in Hungary. The new manufacturing site will produce Coloplast’s intermittent catheters used by people suffering from urinary retention, such as people with a spinal cord injury or spina bifida, who are unable to empty their bladder.

Allan Rasmussen, EVP of Global Operations, attended the ground breaking ceremony and expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility: 

“We are very excited to break ground on this new site, which will enable us to provide high-quality intermittent catheters to more people who need them. This facility is not only a strategic investment for our company, but also a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of people with urinary retention. We are proud to be a leader in this field, and we look forward to expanding our presence and impact in Europe and beyond."

The facility is expected to be fully operational by 2026 and will serve the increasing global demand for intermittent catheters, especially in Europe which is the company's largest market.

We are expanding our Luja™ portfolio with a next generation catheter for women!

“I am excited that Luja and the Micro-hole Zone Technology will now be available for female catheter users. The new female catheter has 50+ micro-holes, enabling complete bladder emptying in one free flow, and I believe this technology will set a completely new standard in the market,” says our Executive Vice President of Innovation, Nicolai Buhl Andersen.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) remain a major concern and challenge for men and women using catheters. Flow stops and blockage of conventional catheter eyelets during catheterisation increase the risk of leaving residual urine behind in the bladder, which raises the risk of bacteria growth and is a well-known UTI risk factor.

Luja for female users will launch across all Coloplast’s key markets over the next 12 months, starting in Denmark and Italy in May 2024*.
