Complement Therapeutics is a spin-out from The University of Manchester that focuses on developing treatments for Complement-related diseases, particularly age-related macular degeneration. The company conducts translational research to gain insights into the Complement System and its dysregulation in macular degeneration.

Complement Therapeutics GmbH (CTx) is an early-stage biotechnology company focused on the research and development of novel therapeutics for complement-mediated diseases. The Company is a spinout from the University of Manchester and is based on the pioneering research of its founders into novel targets within the complement cascade.

Our lead investigational product (CTx001) is being evaluated as a potential gene therapy for dry age-related macular degeneration/geographic atrophy, a leading cause of blindness. Additional programmes will evaluate potential therapeutic opportunities in other complement-mediated conditions.

The Company is also developing a unique quantification methodology, the Complement Precision Medicine (CPM) platform, to enable quantification of over 30 complement cascade proteins enabling more precise diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

We are excited to welcome Kathryn Parsley, MPhil, Ph.D, to our team as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs! 🎊

Kathryn holds an MPhil in Microbiology/Immunology and a PhD in Molecular Immunology/gene therapy. She began her career in anthrax vaccine research at CAMR, UK, then spent 12 years at the Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust, UK, managing gene and cell-based Phase I/II clinical trials. She transitioned to PPD as a Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager, specializing in global Phase I-IV studies, gene therapy, and GMO products. Kathryn later joined Boyd Consultants and Gyroscope Therapeutics before moving to Novartis. She also contributes to ATMP education and recently co-authored an article on EU Clinical Trials Regulation and European GMO legislation for TOPRA Regulatory Rapporteur.
