In 2018 the British Army tasked Lt Col Tim Purbrick with forming a unit to defend & preserve some of the world’s greatest cultural treasures, at risk of theft or destruction in conflict. Tim – a former tank commander – tells our host Helen Fospero how he was inspired by lessons learned by the real-life Monuments Men in WW2. Following on from his work creating The British Cultural Property Protection Unit, Tim designed a course for UNESCO to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the current conflict. 

He also reflects on his time as a tank commander, meeting Kiera Knightley when he received his OBE and chats about the thriller he’s just finished based on the mystery of Russia’s stolen Amber Room.
