2024 kicked off with the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and as you may have guessed, the big topic of discussion was artificial intelligence (AI). This rapidly evolving technology is expected to be a key element in the increased demand for semiconductors for the next decade.

From next-gen gaming technology to the digitalization of industries to the energy tech revolution, AI is expected to be a major game changer and will be a key driver in the next wave of semiconductor growth. Semiconductor chips are the brains of AI. They enable both AI training and inference with a variety of chips including high-performance computing (CPUs, GPUs, NPUs - the central / graphic / neural processing units), short-term memory, (HBM, DRAM), and long-term memory (NAND). They also do the sensing – acting as the eyes (image sensors and cameras), ears and voice (language models, translation, and digitized voice).

This prestigious accolade recognizes their efforts in championing environmental improvement and promoting a recycling-oriented society through waste reduction, reuse, and recycling initiatives. 

A special shoutout to the incredible team at CoorsTek Hadano for their unwavering commitment. Since 2006, they've been actively working to reduce waste generation and have achieved an impressive 0% landfill disposal rate for 14 consecutive years since 2011.

On January 22, 1959, history was made in Golden, Colorado USA with the debut of a 7-ounce Coors Banquet in a recyclable aluminum can.  

In the 1950s Bill Coors, a third-generation member of the Coors family, led a project that revolutionized multiple industries. He saw that cans should and could be made from aluminum and was not discouraged by those who said it could not be done. From this vision, Coors forever changed the beverage, packaging, aluminum, and recycling industries by successfully manufacturing aluminum cans and sharing their expertise with others. This vision would not have become a reality without the technical ceramic can tooling components that were used in the manufacturing process. Today, the aluminum can continues to be one of the most popular and sustainable beverage containers on the market and technical ceramic components are still essential to making them.  #TechnicalCeramics

Today we’re recognizing Holly Leiker, who leads the EIT at our headquarters in Golden, Colorado. Holly’s creativity, sense of enthusiasm, and hard work really make a difference for our team members.

Holly and the CoorsTek HQ EIT put together a summer wellness series in 2023 that offered a stretch class, a Tai Chi class, and a mental health speaker. Exciting news coming out of Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo using CoorsTek Cerahive™ ceramic microwell substrates! 

This technology will allow for the mass production of human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiac organoids and spheroids, paving the way for the development of new regenerative therapies and drug discovery.

In the late '80s, CoorsTek ventured into golf equipment, crafting putters and drivers which were tested in Colorado at the company’s current headquarters. The second floor of the headquarters housed an improvised driving range for testing. “We had this big open space on the second floor that we turned into a driving range, with a big net and a mat”, said Bill Clark, a former CoorsTek sales manager. “Anyone who felt the urge could come up, swing a club, and mark down how many swings they took with that club.” This innovative practice allowed our engineers to gauge and analyze club fatigue. Unfortunately, the wood-ceramic bonding on the head of the driver wasn’t as successful as planned, leading to the discontinuation of production in the early '90s. Although the ceramic drivers were discontinued, CoorsTek learned a great deal from testing this ceramic invention, which paved the way for future innovations.
