New European legislation scheduled for 2030 will require green hydrogen producers to prove their electrolysers source energy from ‘specifically built’ renewables on an hour-by-hour basis.

CorPower Ocean’s C4 device has set a new record in Storm Survivability during late evening of Saturday Nov 4th - withstanding waves up to 18metres (60ft) - as Portugal’s coastline was placed on Red Alert due to rough seas brought by the Domingos storm. The C4 system was monitored from our control centre in Stockholm, where reliable operation was confirmed with motion and loads well within design limits. Since its deployment in Agucadoura, the C4 has endured storms Babet, Aline, Ciarán and Domingos, with Domingos storm conditions recorded by Instituto Hidrográfico - Marinha Portuguesa as the historical record for northern Portugal - https://lnkd.in/d74ee4mQ
 
One of the step change innovations brought to wave energy by CorPower Ocean allows the WEC to be tuned and detuned, altering the system’s response to the conditions. The detuned state creates transparency to incoming waves, similar to the survival function for wind turbines which pitch their blades to protect from over loading.
 
The unique storm survival mode enables our overall lightweight and low-cost design which provides robust operation in the harshest ocean conditions. It is combined with advanced phase control technology that amplify power capture in regular ocean conditions.

CorPower Ocean and steel company SSAB have signed an agreement to explore the development of one of the world’s first wave energy power plants using fossil-free steel.  
 
With a goal to integrate fossil free steel in commercial products from 2026, the progression will help sharpen the renewable sector’s focus on total life cycle emissions.

CorPower Ocean has successfully verified its C4 Survival Mode after weathering two major storms along the Portuguese coast last week.
Storm Babet and Aline unleashed waves up to 13 meters* that swept over the device, fully submersing it under wave peaks on a regular basis. The system operated as intended with minimum motion and loads, providing a solid verification of the C4's ability to endure extreme ocean conditions.
