COSUCRA paid tribute to Jacques Crahay this Friday, 24 June, in the company of his family and many colleagues.

To honor his memory and acknowledge the significant legacy he leaves at COSUCRA, a tree was planted, reflecting his commitment to a more sustainable future.

We also sowed seeds that will blossom into flowers 🌻. For this was what Jacques loved to do; plant seeds in people's minds to grow ideas  💡

🌾🌸🌼 One flowery dam, two successful objectives! 🌾🌸🌼

In response to a request from our local residents to screen the view of our Pea factory, we came up with the idea of creating a vegetated earth embankment 💡.
 
We wanted to make this space lively, colorful, and above all useful for nature!

That's why we sowed it with flowering meadow seeds 🌺 as well as melliferous shrubs 🌿 at the top.

👉 The result: not only do we enjoy a pretty flowery bush, but it also helps to develop biodiversity and provide for the food needs of foraging insects, since we also practice late mowing there 💯✅. 

... That's how we've managed to turn a visual obstacle into an ecological asset!

"Goodbye Jacques!"

These words, spoken upon his retirement, resonate in the minds of all our employees.
We did not think we would have to renew them under much sadder circumstances, and yet. We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jacques Crahay, CEO of COSUCRA, from 2001 to 2022.

A civil engineer in chemistry from UCLouvain, Jacques began his career in the food industry at the University of Gembloux. As CEO of COSUCRA from 2001 to 2022, he skillfully led our company out of the sugar commodity market to refocus on healthy natural ingredients, which are now at the core of our product range. This strategic reorientation allowed the company to concentrate its human and financial resources on the development of pea and chicory sectors.

Becoming an iconic figure in the Belgian food industry, recognized for his exceptional leadership and commitment to sustainable innovation, he was instrumental in the creation of the WAGRALIM competitiveness cluster, which he chaired for ten years.

Convinced of the power of collective effort and the strength of personal initiative, Jacques initiated a transformation movement in our organizational mode that permanently changed the way responsibilities were assumed and teams operated. This new organization not only marked all the COSUCRA teams but also sparked new thinking within Walloon companies and CEOs. This movement led to his election as the head of Walloon employers, serving as president within UWE (AKT).

Humanist, approachable, visionary, committed, inspiring, a fervent advocate of the necessary energy transition, ... he possessed many qualities that defined him and made him an exceptional leader, appreciated by all.
He will leave an indelible mark on our company.

On behalf of COSUCRA, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.
