After seven successful editions in Brussels, COLLECTIBLE Design Fair made its New York City 🗽debut from September 5 to 8, bringing together over than 100 exhibitors from 25 countries in the heart of the Financial District. Join us for the exhibition preview of ‘Frank Auerbach: Starting Again’ at Palazzo da Mosto in Venice, tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 April, 9–11 am. Presented by art dealer Max Levai , the exhibition brings together a curated selection of 11 rarely-seen paintings spanning five decades of Auerbach’s career (1960s to the 2010s), providing a succinct overview of his hermit-like artistic practice and favorite subjects. The exhibition will take place at the historical Palazzo da Mosto, a magnificent 17th-century private residence that will be open to the public for the occasion. ‘Starting Again’ marks Frank Auerbach’s grand return to Venice after his participation at the 1986 Art Biennale and will be accompanied by an essay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Hilton Als. After establishing his reputation in the 1990s with his monumental watercolor paintings of wild animals, American artist Walton Ford continues to produce grand works inspired by true or legendary stories of dramatic encounters between humankind and nature. Fascinated by the perception of wilderness in the collective imagination and by the consequences of human behavior—from colonialism to climate change—for the future of wildlife species, Ford develops complex narratives that have renewed the genre of animal painting. “Walton Ford: Birds and Beasts of the Studio,” on view at The Morgan Library & Museum from April 12–October 6, 2024, celebrates the artist’s recent gift of sixty-three studies and sketches to the Morgan, shown publicly for the first time alongside large-scale paintings on loan from private collections and their respective studies. The show also includes a selection of animal drawings and prints by earlier artists, from Rembrandt and Dorothea Maria Gsell to Eugène Delacroix, Antoine-Louis Barye, and John James Audubon, selected by Ford from the Morgan’s collection. 📸: Charlie Rubin

This past Sunday, the Dallas Art Fair closed out its sixteenth edition in splendid fashion! This year, the fair was marked by energetic collectors, strong sales, and enthusiastic exhibitors.One of the highlights of this year’s fair was the continuation of the Dallas Art Fair Foundation Acquisition Program, an annual gift from the Dallas Art Fair Foundation that places works from the fair into the Dallas Museum of Art’s permanent collection. The works chosen were by Ailbhe Ní Bhriain , JooYoung Choi, and Thania Petersen. Congratulations to all who participated on another excellent fair! We’re looking forward to next year.
