Deeptech Seed Fund is a multi-stage investor that invests early in new ventures that have achieved a significant breakthrough in technology/science and now wish to exploit a global commercial opportunity.

We become interested when there is some interest in your tech from potential early adopters. We work with founders to strike the right deals with those early adopters and we invest alongside those deals.

We have been founders ourselves, multiple times, and we want to bring success to the founders we invest in.

After a lot of work with this great team we’re really pleased to be belatedly announcing Deeptech Seed Fund’s recent investment in Signapse - creators of software AI for real-time generation of photo-realistic sign-language. This was a perfect example of what our investment thesis demands - the combination of world-leading defensible IP (in this case software) from the team at University of Surrey and strong evidence of engagement from commercial early-adopters. The availability to this team of Sally Chalk, a highly effective and sector-specific founding CEO, was a major bonus and is not actually a prerequisite of ours.

Huge thanks to the inventors Ben Saunders and Richard Bowden, to William Mortimore and Will Lovegrove from the highly efficient University of Surrey commercialisation team and to our co-investors (who included Noah Isserman and Dr. Craig Dearden-Phillips MBE from Social Business Builders) who had to put up with a lot of our nitpicking due diligence.
