Founded in 1824, the House of Delamain this year celebrates a 200-year journey immersed in the art of crafting exceptional Grande Champagne cognacs. To mark the occasion, we are proud to unveil L’Edition Rare du Bicentenaire. The cognac combines five eaux-de-vie, each selected and nurtured by one of the last five generations of the Delamain family and blended by the House’s two last Cellar Masters. As we noted in our announcement of July 11th, Delamain is extremely proud to reveal L’Oiseau Rare (rare bird), an hors d’âge Grande Champagne Cognac that is set to become part of Delamain’s permanent range. Released as part of The House’s bicentenary celebrations, L'Oiseau Rare is the creation of recently-retired Cellar Master Dominique Touteau, and crowns his celebrated 40-year career. L’Oiseau Rare is the liquid embodiment of the house’s special relationship with the Grande Champagne and the sensorial harmonies possible when time, cellar conditions and the blender’s art combine with the gifts of this special terroir. The name L'Oiseau Rare pays tribute to Jacques Delamain, a cognac visionary, scholar and prolific writer who wove together passions for the natural world (in particular ornithology) and a pursuit of ethereal Grande Champagne cognacs.
