Digital #mammography with #tomosynthesis is still a relatively underused method in breast imaging, but its adoption is steadily increasing. This is great news, as it significantly enhances early cancer detection. So, what makes tomosynthesis stand out? 🔸 Tomosynthesis generates up to 400 images from various angles, creating a comprehensive 3D view. In comparison, traditional mammography captures just two 2D images per breast. 🔹 It minimizes tissue overlap, leading to more accurate diagnoses, particularly for women with dense breast tissue. 🔸 Even more importantly, it reduces the number of false-positive results, where suspicious findings during screening turn out to be harmless. 🔹 The procedure is quite similar to standard mammography, with only a slightly higher radiation dose for the patient. Tomosynthesis is a highly promising technology, offering greater accuracy for both diagnosis and screening. This makes quality control of the equipment critical.
