An emotionally healthy workplace is shaped by everyone's daily choices towards themselves and others. This month, DroobiSmit and Globant in India explored how company culture and professional relationships affect wellbeing. Here are some of our takeaways to reflect on: 🤔 Implicit cognitive biases shape interactions, decisions, and workplace culture, such as: - Self-Serving Bias: Attributing success to ourselves but setbacks to others can feel natural. Realising this helps us celebrate wins together and learn collectively from challenges. - Availability Heuristic: Focusing only on a colleague's recent mistake may overshadow their prior success. Identifying this lets us evaluate colleagues' strengths and weaknesses fairly. - Bandwagon Effect: Nodding along with the majority even if one disagrees can stifle innovation. Recognising this empowers teams to share thoughts that differ from the majority. 🧐 Common myths may linger, including: - "High-functioning people don’t struggle." Coping looks different for everyone. - "Therapy is for extreme cases only." It helps with all levels of emotional difficulty. - "You can 'snap out' of emotional health issues." Emotional struggles need legitimate interventions. Asking for help is an act of strength, but a culture that encourages it is the bedrock.
