Dubai Duty Free announces the sad passing of Colm McLoughlin, former Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, who died in the UK yesterday following a short illness. Colm, a native of Ireland, lived in Dubai for over 40 years and led Dubai Duty Free from 1983 to his retirement in May of this year. During that time, the business grew from US$20 million to US$2.16 billion. HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum , President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Duty Free commented “I am very pleased to welcome the new senior executives to Dubai Duty Free. They have been selected from an excellent pool of available talent in the UAE to strengthen management team in the company, and they will play an important role in helping deliver Dubai Duty Free’s strategy over the next five years and beyond”. After 55 years in the travel retail industry and 41 at the helm of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman & CEO is stepping down from his role on 31st May 2024. Colm McLoughlin has been the driving force behind Dubai Duty Free’s rise to become the single largest duty-free operation in the world. Under his leadership, Dubai Duty Free has grown dramatically over the past 4 decades and received over 780 awards, of which 86 have been attributed to Colm directly. Effective June 1st, 2024, Ramesh Cidambi, the current COO of Dubai Duty Free, will become Managing Director and Salah Tahlak, the current Joint COO, will become Deputy Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free. #ColmMcLoughlin 💚 #retirement
