It’s Wallpaper Wednesday featuring our beautiful Miss Virginia on final at KVBW. Did you know? The Douglas C-47 played a pivotal role in the development of airborne medical evacuation during World War II. The aircraft was modified to carry stretchers and medical personnel, effectively transforming it into a flying ambulance. Known as the "Skytrain" or "Gooney Bird," the C-47 could transport up to 18 wounded soldiers at a time, significantly improving the survival rate for injured troops by enabling swift evacuation from the front lines to medical facilities. Our very own System Chief Pilot, Rod Moyer, captured this shot of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS while flying cross-country on Monday night! Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (C/2023 A3) is a recently discovered comet that has been gaining attention for its brightness and visibility. It was first spotted by the Tsuchinshan Observatory in China in early 2023, and later by the ATLAS (Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System) survey. The comet is currently making its way through the inner solar system and is expected to reach its closest point to the Sun in October 2024. Have you caught a glimpse of the comet?
