Focus on #YoungTalents: Today we celebrate International Day of Education 💚 

Today is the International Day of Education. At Eckes-Granini we are particularly proud of our young talents whom we support in their education and development: For example, in Germany 29 young professionals at three locations enrich our teams as apprentices and dual students.  

From warehouse logistics, mechatronics and fruit juice technology to business administration or business informatics: We are happy to welcome young talents in all areas of the company for joint growth. 2024 we want to recruit more young people who are passionate about the world of fruit juice 🙌🍎 

And this is just an insight into how education and training on the job can look like at Eckes-Granini in addition to daily business:

Healthy through Veganuary – and beyond! 🍊🍹

We are in the middle of Veganuary. How is the vegan start to the year going so far? For us at Eckes-Granini, this is an occasion to show how important it is to focus on consumer needs and support healthy lifestyle with the help of innovative products. Particularly our nutritious drinks can be the perfect companion not just for veganism but for a healthy lifestyle all year round. Let’s have a closer look:

🌍 Since 2019, Veganuary has offered the opportunity to try out a vegan (purely plant-based) diet for the month of January.
💚 Avoiding products of animal origin can offer benefits such as animal welfare and climate protection.

How to start the vegan experiment?
✅ Preparation and information are everything: check which of your favourite dishes are vegan and what vegan alternatives there are to your current diet.
✅ Don't forget the basics and variety: opt for lots of colourful dishes with vegetables, fruit, wholegrains, seeds, nuts, pulses and other plant-based sources of protein.
✅ According to Eckes-Granini nutrition expert Dr. Volker Herdegen Herdegen you should ensure that important nutrients are covered: With a vegan diet, special attention should be paid to the supply of vitamin B12, iron, calcium, vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids and proteins. You should make sure you pay attention to these nutrients with a well-planned diet and additional supplements where needed. 
✅ Last but not least: have fun! Veganism doesn't mean missing out! Have a good time and don't be too hard on yourself.

"A vegan lifestyle quickly sounds more complicated than it is. Products that are easy to prepare and support a balanced diet are ideal. If you're following a completely vegan diet, you should make sure you're getting enough of the more critical nutrients such as vitamin B12 and iron,” explains Dr Volker Herdegen, PhD in food science and technology, from Eckes-Granini. 💬

💡 Reflecting on a successful Digital Upskilling Week for Marketing People at Eckes-Granini (DUMPEG)! 💡  

Once a year, this event enables our employees at Eckes-Granini to upskill their digital media and marketing skills and benefit from the exchange with digital partners face to face! First time also with our international colleagues 💛 Throughout this week, we had the privilege of hosting a series of enlightening sessions featuring industry experts, each dedicated to key platforms that are shaping the digital media landscape. Let's peek into the programme 👀 

📌 We kicked off the week with Mediaplus Group and Mediascale GmbH & Co. KG, delving into the latest trends and strategies in the dynamic world of digital media. It was a fantastic start to our journey, offering valuable insights that continue to resonate with our audience.  

📌 Tuesday was all about unlocking the potential of Pinterest. Participants explored its unique features and best practices for effective digital media marketing. The session sparked creativity and inspired new approaches to marketing. Pascal W. and Maike Horlacher guided us through the day. Impulses of the fantastic content creator Ashley Forsson were the cherry on the cake. 🍒

📌 Our Meta session on Wednesday provided a deep dive into the evolving landscape of this platform. Attendees gained a better understanding of how Meta is influencing digital media strategies, generated AI and how to adapt to its changes. Credits go to Florian Kugler  and Marc Wirbeleit 🎉 

📌 On Thursday, we experienced the power of TikTok. Participants learned how to harness the vibrancy of this platform for engaging and impactful digital media campaigns. It was an exhilarating way to wrap up the week – great thanks to Inci Kurt and Janina Eckstein! 

Besides the valuable impulses, DUMPEG is an example of a lively learning culture at Eckes-Granini. Together we develop ourselves and our skills to become better and better. Especially in the dynamic world of digital media. Thank you for being part of DUMPEG 2024! 🌐📱

Embrace a refreshing start to the year with #DryJanuary 🍹 

Did you know that this year marks the 11th official Dry January? Launched in 2013 by the UK charity organisation 'Alcohol Change' to change drinking culture through 'social contagion', the campaign has grown in popularity over the past decade. 

So why not embark on this experimental journey in the new year? 🚀 9 million people worldwide took part in 2023. But Dry January is not about hiding away for a month. It's about making a conscious decision not to drink alcohol when eating out, at events or other social gatherings. 

And what about the joy of sipping on a delicious cocktail? Don’t worry! You can still enjoy the taste of your favourite drinks with alcohol-free alternatives. 🍹🍓 

Because the combination of joy, pleasure and health is so important to us at Eckes-Granini, we are particularly pleased that we can contribute to alcohol-free enjoyment with our fruit juices and beverages from brands such as granini and Pago. Come on in: 80 pupils visit our factory in Siófok (Hungary) 👧👦🏾 

Our Eckes-Granini brands are at home in households all over Europe 🗺. Our products have been enjoyed by families for generations. We produce locally. So we are always pleased when we have the opportunity to give people from our communities an insight into how their favorite juice is made.  

As part of the "Siófok55 Open Factory" project, 80 children from a neighboring school visited the Eckes-Granini resp. SIÓ-Eckes plant in Siófok (Hungary) in November 2023 to gain an insight into juice production. 🧃🍊🍏  

This day was all about… 
💡 showing the pupils how juice is made and how a factory works 
💬 learning from and sharing ideas with the new generation  
🌟 enthusiasm and fun with curious youngsters in a great atmosphere 

For us at Eckes-Granini, it is always great to see how these, and other activities, aimed at the communities in which we operate, are received by the people in our neighborhood. This is all the more true for projects aimed at children. It is important to us to strengthen the future generation, offer them opportunities and always look out of their well-being. 💚  

Because we not only say this, but also live it, this idea runs through the entire company: Since 2016, for example, we have been supporting the cycling initiative Team Rynkeby, which supports seriously ill children and their families, as a partner and main sponsor. 🚴♂️

An eventful year is coming to an end and there are only a few days left until the holidays begin – time to hold on for a moment and look back.  

🚨 2023 brought along several challenges for the people of Europe. In particular, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the dramatic developments in the Middle East conflict have hit close to home for many of us. It was also a challenging year for us as a company, with the orange crisis, rising costs, and uncertain market developments.  

🚀 In the midst of this dynamic environment, we have shown resilience as a business and learnt to deal with the challenges. At the same time, we continued to transform our company into an innovative, digital organisation. 

🎆 The turn of the year invites us to hold on and be grateful for what we have achieved as a company – but above all as people. The festive season is also an opportunity for us to focus our attention on the positive things in our lives. We wish everyone to do the same – let's enjoy some quiet days with our loved ones and recharge our batteries for the year ahead.

The Eckes-Granini Sustainability Progress Report 2023 is now available 🌍

At Eckes-Granini, sustainability is deeply rooted in our corporate strategy and has been our premise since our foundation in 1857. As a processor of natural products, we are dependent on an intact environment and nature. We share responsibility for the society in which we operate. That is why our approach is to combine ecological, social and economic sustainability. We succeeded in taking further steps in our six fields of action – sustainable sourcing, packaging, climate protection, nutrition, social responsibility and employees: 

✔ We invest in environmental and climate protection, for example in promoting the sustainable cultivation of fruit and vegetables, in sustainable logistics, in energy efficiency such as heat recovery and in photovoltaic systems.  

✔ 69% of the fruit for our juices and beverages was already sustainably sourced by the end of 2022. The aim is to be able to offer our entire range of juices from 100% sustainable cultivation by 2030 at the latest. Our figures show: We are on the right track. 

✔ In the area of packaging, we are focussing on reducing the weight of our bottles and investing in innovative concepts to reduce packaging material and in recycled PET in order to optimize the circular economy.  

✔ By doing so we not only make a significant contribution to protecting our resources, but also work on a key component in reducing our carbon footprint. 

✔ With the Team Rynkeby charity cycling initiative, in 2023 we raised 9.1 million euros across Europe for seriously ill children and their families.

“Retail media is a key part of our media mix” 🤝  

Retail media is a modern marketing strategy in which retailers provide their own platforms & data for the targeted placement of advertising. The focus is on digital channels such as websites, apps and email lists but also DOOH. Unlike traditional forms of advertising, retail media enables direct interaction with customers as they shop online. Our colleague Prisca Jansche, Head of Media & Digital at Eckes-Granini emphasises: “Retail media is a key part of our media mix”. She particularly appreciates the consumer intimacy, the focus on their needs and the comprehensive. These are the core elements of our retail media approach: 

💡 It is important for us to reach consumers in the best possible way - they decide where they spend their time and where we reach them best and most effectively.  

💡 We target people who are already and future fans of our brands and potential consumers. With the rise of e-commerce, retail media is gaining in importance and has become a core element of our marketing strategy. 

💡 We are in constant dialogue with retailers. This means we are always up to date with new placement opportunities. At the same time, the feedback we give them enables the retailers to continuously improve their existing offers and make them even more consumer-orientated. 

💡 The relevance of retail media for us is driven by consumer behaviour. We ensure that our media mix is balanced and that the final step in the purchase decision is given the importance it deserves.
