Edaphon, as a term, refers to the aggregate of organisms that live in the soil, or, soil life.
Convinced that soil life is crucial to reaching solutions to the carbon crisis, we focus on projects that act as natural carbon sinks and contribute towards the restoration of essential ecosystems.

We're happy to announce our participation in Meridia's Series A funding round! Meridia, whose work has been featured in the Financial Times, is at the forefront of reshaping supply chain transparency and sustainability. 
 
As the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is set to take effect in December 2024, companies dealing with soft commodities (such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya, and wood), as well as many derived products like chocolate or tofu, must ensure that their products are deforestation-free. Compliance necessitates detailed farm-level data, yet acquiring this information is challenging, with 75% of tropical commodities lacking traceability. 
 
Meridia simplifies this process by helping companies ensure that the data collected from smallholder farmers is accurate, reliable, and free from deforestation. Through automated processes, they provide insights and recommendations to improve data quality and meet regulatory requirements. This enables quicker identification and mitigation of deforestation while empowering smallholder farmers to access regulated markets and investments.
