eFishery’s main goal has always been to make Aquaculture the primary source of animal protein in the world as our part in strengthening food security. Our efforts start upstream, one of which is by digging into the potential Aquaculture development present in South Sulawesi, a province in Indonesia that possesses great fishery potential.

Through an open sharing session on the Development of the Fishery Sector in South Sulawesi (Pengembangan Sektor Perikanan Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan) held by eFishery, the government, and Bank Indonesia, we hope that extensive knowledge on Aquaculture can be shared to increase the productivity of local Farmers.

In addition to improving productivity upstream, eFishery also focuses on food distribution downstream, an effort that can battle child malnutrition, especially in Indonesia. This is why eFishery moves to distribute high-quality fishery products to those in need to improve food security in Indonesia and reduce the number of undernourishment.

One of the locations we focused on is Lekopancing Maros village in South Sulawesi, where eFishery distributed 200 kg of fish as a form of intervention against stunting for 30 days. The program is a form of commitment by eFishery to continuously distribute high-quality fishery products for the well-being of communities in Indonesia.

Through these efforts made by eFishery through collaboration with multiple parties, we hope to create positive impacts that affect many people in Indonesia through the development of the Aquaculture sector. Let’s #GrowTogether!

Collaboration with local communities and government is one of the keys to building an inclusive digital economy. It's a way we can ensure that the positive impacts of eFishery directly affect Farmers through grassroots activities and building the community from the ground up.

With that in mind, last week on November 15 eFishery and Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan of North Sumatera held a coordinative meeting (rapat koordinasi) regarding the development of the Aquaculture sector in North Sumatera. The event was officiated by the Head of Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan of North Sumatera, Mr. Hamdan Sukri Siregar, followed by an open discussion regarding the Aquaculture scene in North Sumatera and its challenges. The meeting continues with presentations from eFishery's representatives on product knowledge and matching North Sumatera's challenges with the solutions that eFishery presents. 

The meeting is a form of eFishery's commitment to promoting the strategic development of Aquaculture in the region by creating a multi-stakeholder forum. A total of 9 districts/cities expressed interest in exploring commercial partnerships with eFishery after the event. With the creation of a multi-stakeholder forum such as this, both eFishery and the government can have a broader impact on Fish and Shrimp Farmers across Indonesia.

eFishery is collaborating with Universitas Diponegoro to optimize research and development through the use of aquaculture technology. The signing was conducted on November 6 at Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) Universitas Diponegoro Semarang. The research collaboration is already implemented at the Directorate of Science and Techno Park Universitas Diponegoro in Jepara, Central Java. 

Through this collaboration, we hope that eFishery's aquaculture technology can be put to good use and assist the aquaculture research and development of shrimp farming. We also hope that the results can be implemented by farmers within eFishery and Universitas Diponegoro's ecosystem, thus improving their productivity and sustainability.

A few days ago, our VP of Tech & data, Rifan Kurnia, shared his thoughts and insights at the #1000StartupDigital event in Bukittinggi, West Sumatera. 

The #1000StartupDigital program by Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia is aimed to accelerate the process of problem-solving through digital solutions. This particular event, themed "Unraveling the Digital Potential and Innovation for Entrepreneurship and Agriculture in Bukittinggi" (Menggali Potensi dan Inovasi Digital untuk Kewirausahaan dan Pertanian di Bukittinggi), focuses on the potential growth of digital innovations born in Bukittinggi.

That is why yesterday, November 15, Ardimas Purwita as eFishery's Senior Researcher & Individual Contributor, AIoT & Feeder, shared his thoughts at the Roadshow Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital, held by Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia at Politeknik Negeri Banjarmasin. The event, with the theme "Inovasi Digital Kreatif dalam Membangun Kalimantan Selatan" focuses on how the expanding startup industry in Indonesia can and should be the answer to multiple digital world challenges in the future, especially in South Kalimantan.

As the keynote speaker, Ardimas Purwita delivers the material on "What and Why Digital Startup?", discussing the opportunity of digital and entrepreneurial thinking startups. He also presented eFishery as a case study to deepen the discussion on why digital startups can be the answer to emerging issues in South Kalimantan and the world.
