Denmark commits to 9 GW of offshore wind by 2030: EMD selected for key wind assessments 📊🔍 To accelerate offshore wind production, Denmark has committed to tendering at least 9 GW of offshore wind capacity for construction by 2030. To meet this goal, the Danish Energy Agency has started the relevant investigations for the selected areas. We are proud to support Denmark’s ambitious offshore wind goals. Resilient and sustainable district heating using multiple heat sources 🌿 We are proud to be part of the newly launched white paper on sector coupling by State of Green Denmark . It is a comprehensive and inspiring publication that highlights the potential of sector coupling as part of the green transition. The white paper explores how sector coupling establishes new streams for renewable energy to displace fossil fuels. By linking electricity, heating, cooling, water, gas and Power-to-X technologies, sector coupling allows green energy to flow across sectors, increasing both efficiency, sustainability and resilience. EMD has contributed with a case story about the district heating system in Hvide Sande, which features multiple energy sources, including a solar thermal plant, a heat pump, three 3MW wind turbines, and heat storage tanks. While this mix allows for cost-effective renewable district heating, managing daily operations and electricity procurement is challenging due to the fluctuating nature of renewable energy. 📍 Release cycle information for users of the EMD-WRF Europe+ Mesoscale Dataset The EMD-WRF Europe+ mesoscale dataset has been updated as of October 31st, 2024. This update includes: ✔️ Release of the delayed preliminary data from September 2024, based on ERA5T ✔️ Replacement of preliminary mesoscale data from July 2024 (based on ERA5T) with final mesoscale data (based on ERA5) It is anticipated that the subsequent months will follow a standard release schedule, with monthly updates of the EMD-WRF Europe+ dataset expected around the 20th of each month. Additionally, data replacements will occur during these updates, so that the preliminary mesoscale data for August, September, and October (based on ERA5T) will be replaced with mesoscale data based on final ERA5 data over the next three months, when final ERA5 data becomes available from #ECMWF .
