A glaring contradiction is capturing attention at #COP29 in Azerbaijan, a global platform for advancing climate solutions. Despite high expectations for sustainability, the reality paints a troubling picture: unsustainable food systems, unchecked plastic waste, and mislabeled vegetarian and vegan options dominate the scene. With beef—a food with a high carbon footprint—filling menus, plant-based alternatives remain limited and prohibitively expensive. Reports of mislabeled dishes have left attendees disillusioned.
