This week, we took a moment to celebrate 10 years of our Pulp Magazine at our Fedrigoni London Studio joined by clients, our editors from Eye Magazine and some iconic contributors from past covers. Over the past decade, Pulp has been a platform where ideas and best practices in the world of paper and self-adhesives converge. It has provided a space for designers, artists, students, and makers to share their stories and explore the vast potential of creativity. From bespoke packaging to labelling and the art of fine printing, Pulp has become a valuable source of inspiration and insight for the global creative community. In our recent EcoVadis evaluation for 2024, we achieved a notable score of 90/100 in Sustainable Procurement. This accomplishment reflects our commitment to responsible sourcing, driven by several key factors: Policies: Our comprehensive sustainable procurement policy establishes clear quantitative objectives for responsible sourcing and incorporates best practices, particularly concerning wood-based products. Endorsements: We hold an AB membership with the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange ( Sedex ) and actively participate in the UN Global Compact (UNGC). Measures: We weave social and environmental objectives into our supplier assessments, ensuring these criteria inform their performance evaluations. Certifications: Our dedication to responsible sourcing is further reinforced by various certifications, including FSC. Coverage: Our sustainable procurement initiatives are applied consistently at the Group level, ensuring a unified approach. Reporting: We maintain transparency in our reporting of supply chain KPIs, including the proportion of suppliers covered by ESG assessments and the number of ethical audits conducted. In addition to these practices, we are addressing Scope 3 emissions, which account for over 60% of our total emissions. Achieving the reduction targets approved by the SBTi requires us to implement robust traceability systems and forge long-term partnerships with our suppliers. This holistic approach not only aims for decarbonization but also promotes biodiversity protection and social progress, thereby unlocking significant value and mitigating potential environmental and social impacts. We are fully committed to complying with the upcoming #EUDR , a regulation designed to transform the industry by preventing the import and trade of commodities linked to #deforestation and enforcing strict traceability and due diligence requirements. This pivotal directive is set to be enforced by December 30, 2024. In late September, the EU Commission proposed an extension of 12 additional months for the phasing-in period, responding to appeals from global partners. If approved by the European Parliament and the Council, this amendment would mean the law would take effect on December 30, 2025, for large companies, and June 30, 2026, for micro and small businesses. In anticipation of these changes, our company is investing significant resources to gain a comprehensive understanding of the EUDR. We are proactively collaborating with our strategic suppliers to assess their readiness for compliance. Additionally, we are exploring advanced internal traceability systems and crafting a detailed roadmap to facilitate a smooth implementation of EUDR compliance across our production facilities. This initiative underscores our dedication to navigating new standards for sustainability and transparency in the industry. “I like the challenge, it push you to do things differently”. These the words of Diego Monti, the owner of Grafica Monti who was thrilled to take on the challenge proposed by graphic designer Dario Carta for our 2023 Annual Report. This project was a true test of creativity, given to its unique graphic requirements. But the collaboration was a fruitful example of teamwork, with both parties working together to achieve the best possible outcome. The artisanal nature of the project meant that all the work was done manually, from the stitching to the gluing. The end result is a stunning piece of work that showcases the best of Italian craftsmanship. We're proud to have worked with such talented individuals capable to imagine and produce a report that is also an experience in itself.
