The "Norwegian Giga Battery Factories" project, funded by Norges forskningsråd, recently visited FREYR Battery’s Customer Qualification Plant in Mo i Rana. The project group explored Norway’s first #batterycell #factory, engaging in insightful discussions as they toured the #industrialscale #productionline, #laboratory, #testcenter, and more. The NorGiBatF project, led by Professor Odne Burheim at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), focuses on enhancing the #energy #footprint of battery production. From FREYR Battery this is lead by SVP Technology, Hans Ivar Laukli.

Funded by the Research Council of Norwegian and #industry partners, the project is spearheaded by NTNU with #scientific collaborators from Institute for Energy Technology, SINTEF Energy Research, and Technische Universität Braunschweig, along with industry partners like FREYR Battery, Beyonder, NORSIRK, NORDIC MINING ASA, and Norsk Hydro. 

NorGiBatF comprises 5 #scientific work packages that support activities in battery production and factory #development.

He shared valuable insights on the evolving battery industry, focusing on renewable energy, re-shoring technology, and new partnership models. His discussion emphasized the importance of strategic advancements for a sustainable, electrified future.

Tom also participated in a General Session, where he discussed the role of AI and the industrial metaverse in supporting FREYR's efforts to decarbonize energy and transportation systems. 🔋⚡️

There's no shortage of innovation and opportunity in Georgia's clean energy ecosystem. Last week, Jason Peace and Jon Parke from our Newnan office attended the Georgia Tech Energy Materials Day, hosted by the Georgia Tech Strategic Energy Institute, the Institute for Materials, and the Advanced Battery Center at The Georgia Institute of Technology, one of the top ranked universities for its leadership in energy and fuels research.

The event, which focused on accelerating energy materials research, successfully brought together academia, government, and industry leaders.
Several advances in research and applications were highlighted, including Scott Childers' insights into flow batteries and Dr. Kelsey Hatzell's work on Chemo-Mechanics at Princeton University. 💡

The growing demand for clean energy solutions in Georgia is clear, and we're excited to be a part of it. 🔋
