On the morning of December 5, we launched the Stormgate Kickstarter. We’re lucky. Many independent studios aren’t able to say that they’ll be able to ship their game at all, but Stormgate is fully funded to release. 

So why launch a Kickstarter? 

We created this crowdfunding campaign to provide our players with the kinds of AAA experiences that would otherwise be out of our reach without a major publisher footing the bill. This includes a gorgeous physical collector’s edition of the game and a wide-reaching beta testing program. 

Here’s how it went…

⏱ We were fully funded in 15 minutes
💰 We’ve received more than $1,000,000 in pledges in under 48 hours
✍ Our signed editions ($350) are SOLD OUT (players are asking for more)
😍 More than 11,000 backers are supporting our team

This is only the beginning.

Frost Giant Studios is a team of veteran game developers who are deeply passionate about creating Stormgate, the next great real-time strategy game, but that's not enough to make a smash-hit online multiplayer game. Frost Giant also relies on valuable partnerships with teams like Hathora. They are behind the server orchestration platform that will provide the scaling global infrastructure we will need to bring together RTS players around the world. 

We're excited to share that Hathora recently ran a successful test simulating 1M concurrent Stormgate users, putting us on the path toward supporting a thriving global player base for years to come. 

When combined with Stormgate's game logic running at 64 Hz--up to three times as responsive as StarCraft II--as well as our recent successful test of rollback, the predictive technology that almost magically reduces the impact of latency in online play, it's clear that we're building the most cutting-edge real-time strategy game yet.
