Last week, several of the Future Planet Capital team attended the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA)'s ESG Conference 2024 to share their insights in various panel discussions throughout the day.
 
🔓 On the panel titled “What do we need to unlock the opportunities for private capital investment in the Net Zero transition?”, Ed Phillips, Investment Director discussed the importance of mobilising institutional capital to better leverage emerging deeptech climate solutions. 
 
🌎 Alexander Shadbolt, Investment Associate and Impact Lead joined the “What is impact?” panel to explore what “impact” really means for investors, and the ways in which Future Planet Capital understands and measures impact through value creation for people, profits, and the planet. 
 
🔮 Malika Arshad, Business Development Associate spoke to the future of ESG and impact, and how they might come to shape the investment landscape in years to come, on the “ESG: The Next Generation” panel.

It’s great to see that NeoVac, one of Future Planet Capital’s portfolio companies, has been granted full authorisation by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to begin clinical trials in the UK. 
 
With this being the first time NeoVac’s ground breaking Lipid Nanoparticles (LNP) will be tested in human volunteers, the trial marks a crucial step in the development of NeomiVac, the company’s mRNA vaccine against COVID-19.
 
Future Planet Capital has long-supported innovation in drug discovery, which forms a key part of its investment strategy. We’re proud to continue our support of the UK’s most promising biotech firms, such as NeoVac, and look forward to witnessing the positive impact this new trial will have on people’s lives across the globe.

Our portfolio manager, Lyle Pentith, attended an insightful evening earlier this week at the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA), alongside our portfolio company, Nuclera. The event included a keynote from the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt. and Shadow Treasury Minister Tulip Siddiq, discussing how they are committed to Venture Capital as a key driver of growth for the UK economy. 
 
Co-founder and CFO of Nuclera Jiahao Huang, also the opportunity to discuss the current capital raise climate for growth-stage companies in the UK and directly with the Chancellor.
