🎉 We're thrilled to share the opening of a new health clinic in Red Bank, Belize, funded by Fyffes! This $70,000 donation allowed for the complete renovation and expansion of the clinic, providing much-needed medical services to over 3,000 residents, including many Fyffes employees. The newly remodelled facility offers consultation rooms, a medication dispensary, and waiting areas, ensuring comfort and care. It will serve as part of Belize's national medical system, bringing services like pre- and post-natal care, vaccinations, family planning, and health education to the community. In September we had the pleasure of hosting our inaugural Fun Day at Fyffes in Balbriggan, Ireland! It was a fantastic day, filled with excitement as we welcomed our teams and their families to join in on the carnival-themed celebration. This event was a small token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication our people show day in, day out. It was also a great chance to come together, have some fun, and showcase where we work to our loved ones. From inflatables and games to a rodeo bull, face painting, balloon makers, and even a special visit from our very own Freddy Fyffes, there was something for everyone! We also had plenty of delicious food and treats on offer, allowing everyone the chance to relax, mingle, and enjoy the atmosphere. To make the day even more special, we hosted tours of our building and operations, giving a glimpse into what happens here on a daily basis. A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the day and to all the families who joined us. Today, on the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, Fyffes highlights the importance of reducing food waste and its impact on our planet. A third of all food produced is wasted, contributing to about 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and affecting deforestation and water sources. Through partnerships with our valued customers and for-purpose organisations, we donate fresh bananas, pineapples, and melons to food banks in Latin America, North America, and Europe. These food banks supply surplus food to charities and communities in need. With the recent spike in inflation and the cost-of-living crisis, the demand for food bank services has increased globally. We are pleased to partner with organisations like FoodCloud, Cream of the Crop, FareShare, TBBT, Sunt Food, Philabundance, and many others to donate and redistribute our surplus fruit, turning it into meals while minimising food waste. We are proud to have surpassed one of our sustainability targets by donating 21 million meals since 2021 to vulnerable communities, mainly through the support of our food bank partners. At Fyffes, we are committed to listening to our customers and catering to their needs. We’re pleased to share the findings from our recent consumer research, which surveyed 1,000 consumers in the UK and Ireland – on their pineapple knowledge and purchasing habits. Key findings revealed; Over 80% of consumers do not know the correct way to store a pineapple. 43% of consumers consider it important that the pineapples they purchase are sustainably and ethically sourced. 64% of consumers are willing to pay more for sustainably and ethically produced pineapples. 4 in 10 consumers are not aware of the health benefits of pineapples.
