My team at Square never stops looking for ways to make the lives of restaurant operators easier. Recently, it’s been all about giving our customers faster ways to navigate their restaurant POS and stay productive throughout service. According to the Square Payroll Index data, average hourly earnings for restaurant workers rose by 50 cents over the last year, starting at $17.18 in January 2023 and ending at $17.68 in December. While the increase is lower than the $22 minimum wage hike restaurant owners were bracing for, rising pay requirements don't show signs of slowing, with half of U.S. states planning to boost their general minimum wage this year.
