The development process of a payment card with purpose: providing secure and convenient financial transactions, sprouting from nature's bounty 🌽

More and more people are attaching importance to sustainable products - and a lot can be achieved in the area of #paymentcards too. With our latest edition, Convego Natural, we use #sustainable by-products from corn or sugar cane to create functional, everyday #financial tools - and with a reduced impact on the environment.

But how does this actually work? 🤔

Step 1 - Initial Processing: The journey begins in industrial settings where corn is processed to break it down into usable raw materials and leverage its renewable nature.

Step 2 - Bacterial Processing: Specific bacteria perform natural fermentation, converting the plant substrates into polylactic acid (PLA), a type of biodegradable synthetic material.

Step 3 - Material Formation: This PLA undergoes several treatments to transform it into a stable, usable form. It is heated and moulded into plastic-like beads, which are the building blocks for creating the cards.

Step 4 - Card Production: These beads are then manufactured into the Convego Natural cards, maintaining all the functional attributes of a standard payment card but with a lower environmental footprint.

We believe, that Convego Natural cards are a step towards more sustainable practices in the payment sector. In addition, banks and card issuers can adapt to the growing needs of their customers, who want their awareness of sustainability reflected in their payment cards.

How can smooth border crossings increase prosperity within the country? 

The example of Namibia and Botswana shows it: The two countries simplified their mutual border controls in 2023. They allowed their citizens to use their national identity cards as travel documents between the two countries. 🤝🏻

The result: fast, smooth, and safe travel between the two countries, which in turn promotes cultural and economic exchange.

Reconnecting, deepening, growing together 🌟🤝

At G+D, our Personal Growth Program (PGP) for senior managers is all about individual development, building sustainable networks, and taking the next step together.

Recently, our leaders gathered in Lyon for a 3-day workshop. Set against Lyon’s historic backdrop, this event deepened personal and professional connections, fostering group cohesion and a deeper understanding of global challenges.

Guided by PGP coaches Roland Greppmair and Ann-Kathrin Kaellner, participants engaged in peer group coaching, discussions, and exercises focused on personal growth. A fireside chat with Head of HR Dr. Jutta Häusler and Thomas Steininger, Head of Global Talent Management & Leadership Development, covered managing future challenges and adapting leadership styles.

The group also visited the G+D Card Facility at Craponne, learned about advanced bank card personalization, and enjoyed French hospitality. Activities like working in Parc Lacroix-Laval, a boat cruise on the Saône, and a walking tour of Lyon's Old City complemented the official content.

Reflecting on the program’s initial module in Murnau, it's clear these experiences are crucial for preparing our leaders for tomorrow's challenges. Our 18 participants from diverse units and regions are now equipped with shared visions and ideas, fostering a sustainable leadership network.
