It also engages in the oil exploration/production, distribution, storage, and bunkering activities; and offers coal, crude oil and oil products, refined products, and natural gas. In addition, the company markets and distributes physical commodities sourced from third party producers and its production to industrial consumers in the battery, electronic, construction, automotive, steel, energy, and oil industries. Further, it provides financing, logistics, and other services to producers and consumers of commodities. The company was formerly known as Glencore Xstrata plc and changed its name to Glencore plc in May 2014. Glencore plc was founded in 1974 and is headquartered in Baar, Switzerland.

Last month, #GlencoreDRC proudly hosted its 6th annual conference in Kinshasa, bringing together key stakeholders to address critical issues within the #DRC mining sector. 🌍 Our Head of Sustainability Anna Krutikov joined a panel discussion with H.E.M Kizito Pakabomba, Ministère des Mines - RDC and H.E.M Chasper Sarott, Ambassador of Switzerland to the DRC, chatting through Glencore's efforts within the areas of #ESG , #traceability and #sustainability . Marie-Chantal Kaninda , President of Glencore DRC and Chairperson of Kamoto Copper Company S.A. , along with Mark Davis , CEO of Glencore Copper Africa, presented on the current challenges facing the industry, the performance of our mining operations in the DRC, and ongoing activities to demonstrate ESG compliance at a global standard. “As both a major trading company and one of the world's largest mining companies, Glencore is in a strong position to understand and respond to the needs of its customers around the world, some of which source directly from our operations in the DRC. The Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI) is a collaboration between The Copper Mark , ICMM , Mining Association of Canada and World Gold Council to consolidate their different voluntary responsible mining standards into one global Standard. As a member of ICMM, Glencore has been involved in the development of the draft Standard, working alongside other experts to ensure that it serves the needs of our stakeholders, sets a high bar for #responsiblemining and drives continuous improvement across our industry. The public consultation is now open! We encourage all interested parties to provide feedback on the draft Standard to help ensure that it can deliver positive outcomes for the mining industry, local communities and the environment, as well as others across the mining and metals value chain.
