BlackRock’s new tokenized fund attracted $240 million in the first week since its debut, as reported in Bloomberg.
 
The world’s largest asset manager’s launched its new tokenized fund on Ethereum which invests in cash, US Treasury bills and repurchase agreements. Holders of the fund receive a cryptocurrency called BUIDL that is valued at $1 per token.
 
This is the latest example of market leaders embracing tokenization as the future of finance, driving the industry forward. Chairman and CEO Larry Fink said that every financial asset will eventually be tokenized.

Despite VCs’ confidence that IPOs would return in Q1 2024, Rebecca Szkutak in TechCrunch writes that public market activity has been limited.
 
It’s not all doom and gloom though. Secondary markets have been growing rapidly as an increasing number of private companies authorise their shareholders to sell a limited amount of stock to approved investors.
 
With secondaries, everyone can win. Startups can keep their investors happy by enabling them to access liquidity, without having to go through a challenging and premature IPO which could damage their business.
