SuDS Pods now installed across our #ReclaimtheRain schools! The SuDS Pods will take roof run-off from the school’s downpipes, reducing the pooling of water on areas of hardstanding, support plant life and pollinators, provide an educational resource, and alleviate pressure on the existing drainage network during storm events. The schools love the new additions, and the team are excited to commence a drawing competition with the pupils to design bespoke laminated fronts for each unit. We're proud to look back on the transformative regeneration of Wood Street, a vibrant example of sustainable urban planning that blends Cardiff's rich history with modern green infrastructure. This ambitious project, part of Cardiff City Council's innovative push towards pedestrian-friendly and flood-resilient spaces, combines over 20 trees in GreenBlue Urban's ArborFlow SuDS system with tree pits, rain gardens, and smart soil technology, all aimed at creating a healthier, greener public realm. Working alongside Cardiff Council , Arup , and Knights Brown , this project offers a glimpse into the future of urban spaces—spaces that prioritise people, nature, and resilience. In a recent blog, GreenBlue Urban shared their excitement about joining the BIG Biodiversity Challenge and Awards, a campaign encouraging the construction industry to integrate biodiversity net gain into projects. Their entry, "Walk Cycle Live Stirling," in partnership with Stirling Council , Ironside Farrar Ltd , Sustrans , and Transport Scotland , was recognised for its focus on carbon reduction, sustainable urban drainage, and community benefits. This is a tough one as there are so many great memories and great projects we have worked on, however if there is one project that particularly sticks in my mind it is the Bet 365 new carpark in stoke. The contractor hadn't used our system before and found it really easy to work with, we offered them full support right through from tender to onsite installation support. 🤝What's the most rewarding part of your job? I think it must be supporting a contractor that may not be familiar with tree pits in hard areas. Right through the stages of their project from meeting them on site prior to placing the order and ensuring that all the products get delivered and installed in a timely manner without any issues. ✈️If you could travel anywhere for a week, where would you go? I would love to go and explore Indonesia as I've not been there before, it looks fascinating and really beautiful. 🍽️What's a favourite meal or dessert you always look forward to? I don't think anything can beat a donor meat and chips smothered in burger sauce!
